What kind of existence should a girl be?
Gentle and well-behaved, obedient and sensible.
Good at managing a household and its accounts, and navigating social circles.
These are all ways people define women.
Women in the Victorian era were patient and compassionate.
Women during World War II took off their skirts and donned uniforms, fighting not for their lovers, but for their country.
So what kind of existence should a girl be?
Agatha, who grew up in the eighteenth century, could never figure out the answer to that question, no matter how much she thought about it.
The little town of Rodrio, nestled beneath the Sacred Realm, was peaceful and traditional, warm and old-fashioned.
Her parents' world was everything to her. At most... at most, she had fallen for someone she shouldn't have loved.
He was far too distant from her, so distant that even if she put all her strength into it, she might not be able to touch so much as the hem of his clothes.
But fortunately, he turned around and walked toward her.
Because of him, she learned to summon the courage to move forward, pouring her whole heart into chasing after his figure.
But when she had weathered everything and could finally stand beside him,
Agatha suddenly realized that a girl need not be defined by anyone. A girl is simply a girl, and can only ever be herself.
Even when the times do not allow it, girls in every era will do everything they can to embrace all that they yearn for.
From Artemis and Thetis in the age of myths, through marriage under the rule of God, to feminism after the Enlightenment.
Girls can be defined, but they need not be.
The imprint of the times may discipline their hearts and minds,
but it can never discipline the deepest, truest desires within them.
I'm glad I fell for you, someone so far beyond my reach, in the innocent days of my youth.
And I'm glad that, to follow in your footsteps,
I crossed countless mountains and raging rivers, and even traversed time and space, enduring every hardship.
In the end, I realized I love you simply because you are you, someone I can long for but never reach.
Yabo Feika x Agatha
A pure-love, non-explicit story.
After reading all sorts of books, from Greek mythology and books on women's studies to books about tradition and reform that contain some outdated ideas,
I wanted to write about love and women, inspired by Athena and what she represents: love and peace.
As a goddess of war who even surpasses the male god of war, Ares, Athena is portrayed in the story as far too innocent and delicate.
I don't rule out that this characterization was created to serve the needs of the plot and literary storytelling,
but in the end, I still wanted to use my own ideas to tell a story about a girl herself.
The story may contain a few outdated ideas. Those who dislike them are welcome to point them out, though I may not change them.
I've currently drafted 150,000 characters, but I need to revise as I post online (covers face).
Being able to update three chapters a week might be the best I can offer, QAQ.
Taking a break: Lately I've been engrossed in the world of beauty influencers. I'll continue updating once I've put together a detailed makeup and skincare guide (doge). That's right, I've gone off to practice makeup! I even bought a college-level art and design textbook called Beauty and Makeup (I really have too much free time!).
Theme: Love and growth
