# A stormy romance, evenly matched rivals who become devoted imperial consorts #
The Shen family of Jiangnan had a daughter of incomparable beauty, gentle in manner and refined in spirit.
She had been immersed in books since childhood, studying the art of ruling and following the path of good governance.
Once, she was a noble young lady from a distinguished family. Then her family was slaughtered, and she became an orphan.
With the help of her childhood friend, she made her way to the capital and concealed her identity.
Pei Song, Crown Prince of the Lin Dynasty, courtesy name Jingji, was a man of graceful bearing and solemn composure, with many achievements to his name. But in the eyes of his ministers, he was scheming, cunning, and as sly as a fox, with a ruthless streak.
Pei Song had never liked scheming women, especially those who went to great lengths to attach themselves to the powerful.
With a flawless face, he delivered the most heartless words: "You should kill yourself."
The Crown Prince looked down on everyone, held power in his hands, and sneered at everything.
At first, he was merely suspicious of this rather beautiful woman and kept her close. But little by little, he treated her differently, indulging and pampering her time and again.
At their first meeting, she was a pretty maid with eyes that seemed to sparkle, using every trick she could to climb the ranks.
Later, she was the woman who drew a bow and arrow and tried to kill him.
1. Pei Song asked her, "Do you like Ji Yan? Do you like him?"
She chose her words carefully. "Young Lord Ji is an exceptional man, like the moon in the heavens, bright and clear. I can only look up to him, never presume to reach for him."
Pei Song saw the lingering affection in her eyes, so full it seemed ready to spill over. His insides burned, and for the first time, he tasted jealousy.
2. During a political coup in the capital, the Crown Prince left the city. He claimed he was going to execute the sovereign, but in truth, it was all part of his plan.
She stayed by his side through plots and assassinations as the Crown Prince uprooted his enemies and wiped out their remaining forces.
Their whereabouts were exposed, and outsiders wanted them dead. When the eldest son of the provincial governor married, they disguised themselves as the newlyweds and switched places. Beneath the bridal veil, he looked at her, her hair piled high and her face adorned in red. His eyes were filled with color. "Are you afraid?"
She raised an eyebrow. "I'd be lying if I said I wasn't. Your Highness will protect me, won't you?"
"Of course," the Crown Prince replied.
In that moment, he was just like the way she loved him.
3. A corner of the truth was revealed. Pei Song was too clever not to understand her plans. She had approached him to get revenge for the slaughter of her entire Shen family by the Zhao clan. They laid all their cards on the table, and her schemes and plans brought them to a deadly impasse.
She had only two choices: she could die, or he could take his revenge.
Pei Song still let her kill her enemy with her own hands, simply because he loved her.
"I'll help you take revenge with your own hands. You will belong to me forever."
"Shen Qingran, from this moment on, I want you to love me. Truly love me."
But she was only pretending with him. Her heart belonged to someone else.
He was used and deceived, his pride ground to dust. Again and again, he lost himself. He held her hand against his own chest, pressed the knife point into it, and forced her to kill him. She was in agony.
Shen Qingran traded herself for her childhood friend's life.
She agreed to stay in the Eastern Palace and let him into her heart, promising to love him.
Then she fled with her childhood friend.
The man searched every inch of the land for her, then rode with his cavalry into a remote town. He pushed open a door and saw a beautiful woman sitting alone before the bed curtains, white gauze covering her eyes. He strode over, pulled her into his arms, held her tight, and gently stroked her cheek, possessiveness in his gaze.
She thought her childhood friend had returned. Then she felt his lips pressing against hers, leaving her unable to breathe, and heard a voice like that of a demon. She shoved him away.
"You..."
He picked up the wedding dress beside them and clutched its soft fabric. Its scarlet color burned his eyes. "You're going to marry him?"
The Crown Prince tore the red wedding dress to shreds.
All his years of composure and decorum vanished.

From evenly matched rivals to falling deeply in love, everything changed from the moment they met.
I gave my heart to the bright moon, but the moon shines on the ditch.
It turns out our fate was written long ago!
|When we were young, you almost became my wife. But you forgot!|
1. A purely historical romance, with no golden finger.
I'm terrible at writing blurbs, so please read the story. Please view the characters from the protagonists' perspectives.
A noble young lady falls into the mud, lies low in the palace, and a little palace maid takes revenge and slaughters her way through her enemies.
A tug-of-war between the powerful and the little people, each making their move in turn.
2. The heroine seeks revenge. She's a highly skilled fighter who plans every step, sweet on the outside but calculating underneath, and not exactly a good person. She puts her own interests first. The hero is definitely a tool. He has to win back his wife's heart, and their love grows over time.
3. On the surface, she acts like she's madly in love with me. In reality, it's all manipulation and lies.
4. Mutual suspicion, tension, and push and pull, as the aloof, untouchable one falls from his pedestal.
5. A happy ending: the emperor and empress rule together and build a prosperous realm.
A special note: A one-versus-three love triangle with a rivalry between the suitors, but only one official male lead. She runs, he chases. There are soapy, cheesy tropes. The more over-the-top, the more fun. The heroine is a princess from ancient times, independent in character, and can be gentle, charming, unhinged, kind, or cruel.
The focus is political intrigue, with plot and romance as supporting elements.

Theme: Keep going, and flowers will bloom
The conflict between the two protagonists is so deep, can the ending still be HE (shuddering?)? I can't imagine how the heroine would start to like the hero later on.
Why is there always no period? So painful
Will there be a reversal? I even started to think that the heroine actually wanted to use the hero's help to kill the Ji family?
I hope the author will insist on finishing it, because it has been in the series for a long time and I am afraid that it will be discontinued. I can't read it anymore and can only read and comment on where the plot is. I like this subject very much and I like a bit of sadism, love and killing, and the male and female protagonists pulling each other! Finally, I hope the author sticks to himself!! Don't let comments affect subsequent development 🤩
I feel a little strange when I see this. Why has the heroine become so silly and sweet? I feel like she is not here for revenge.
