I wrote fiction for several years a long time ago. Though I'd put it aside for years, I'd still write bits and pieces now and then. But whenever I wrote, I'd be full of passion, only to look back after a while and find my work unbearable to read. So I shelved all of it.
This story was the one exception. A while ago, I was on a business trip and pulled out this story, which I'd started at the beginning of the year, to pass the time on the plane. To my surprise, I got hooked on it myself. When I turned to the last page, I actually cursed, "Which heartless person dug this hole and left it unfinished?" Then I came to my senses and realized the heartless person was me! So I decided to publish it for anyone who might enjoy it, and also hoped that readers would hold me accountable and make me finish it, because I really want to see how it ends too.
Let me say again: this story doesn't follow current trends. There's no transmigration, no rebirth, no outlandish premise, and not the slightest trace of the usual wish-fulfillment style.
