Why Are the Dragon-Slaying Hero and the Villain Fighting Over Me?

"How many times are they going to reuse this model in this bargain-basement production?"

To cut costs, animation studios routinely reuse their best character models.

But this one model was so handsome that the studio used it four times, and Shen Xi couldn't help but complain.

The male lead's mentor, who dies early; the loyal guardian of the Demon Lord; an elder from a cannon-fodder sect who gives the hero a fortuitous encounter...

And... a male cultivator from the Hehuan Sect who flirts with the hero and the Demon Lord... They all used the same model.

Shen Xi: "They have no shame."

Then he was transported into the anime, into that very character model.

So...

The day before, he died as the hero's mentor right in front of him.

The hero vowed through his grief, "Master! I swear I'll avenge you!"

The next day, the Demon Lord sent him out to face the hero, and he went, "Heh heh heh heh heh heh..."

Shen Xi: Help! He really doesn't have the acting skills for this!

Then one day, the Demon Lord lifted his chin, an amused look on his face. "You do bear a passing resemblance to my old nemesis, who died young."

The hero held his sword to Shen Xi's throat, his eyes bloodshot. "Why do you look so much like him...?"

Shen Xi promptly grabbed the hero's sword and slit his own throat.

That's a wrap! Next!

Next...

The male cultivator from the Hehuan Sect who flirts with the hero and the Demon Lord?!

Shen Xi was exhausted.

Forget it. Whoever wants to act can do it themselves.

He packed his things and went to retire at that cannon-fodder sect, waiting to give the hero his final fortuitous encounter before the sect was wiped out by demonic cultivators.

He patted the hero on the shoulder, ready to deliver his final line: "Young man, the future of the cultivation world is..."

But the hero grabbed his hand.

"Is... is..." Shen Xi stumbled over his words.

The hero burst into tears. "Master! I knew you couldn't bear to leave me! I'll kill all those demonic cultivators, then take you home!"

The Demon Lord, haughty and untouchable, suddenly appeared and snapped the demonic cultivator's neck. "Who gave you the nerve to lay a hand on him?"

The Demon Lord looked at Shen Xi and smiled, amused. "Shen Xi, I had no idea you were in love with me, when you even faked your death to go undercover by my side as my guardian."

Shen Xi rolled his eyes. Help! I told you they shouldn't reuse character models!!!
