Zhong Yao is reborn with no money, no memories, no lifespan, and no family.
Si Zhen is badly injured, barely clinging to life with medicine.
One person who never knows where their next meal is coming from and another who counts every meal as one more day alive meet in the hospital.
To make it easier to take her medicine and stay alive, Zhong Yao moves in with her fellow patient, Si Zhen. She never expected him to be such a domineering old-fashioned man.
-
Their personalities clash, so arguments are inevitable. On the day Zhong Yao decides to move out, Si Zhen follows her into a dim alley.
Zhong Yao takes back the jade pendant she gave him. Still furious, she pins Si Zhen against the wall and bites down hard on his neck.
Si Zhen's expression is restrained, his hands hovering in the air without moving.
But he knows the immobilizing talisman has long since worn off.
-
Although Zhong Yao thinks Si Zhen is annoying, she doesn't want to hurt him either. So once she guesses the truth about her origins, she begins to distance herself from him.
It is the dead of winter, and Si Zhen is wearing only a single thin layer.
Zhong Yao stands not far away, watching Si Zhen call her again and again, watching him bend over and cough violently after standing in the wind.
Zhong Yao does not approach. Instead, she makes a wish for Si Zhen:
May he be safe and happy, and may everything go smoothly for him, without a care in the world.
Only then does Zhong Yao realize she has already fallen for him.
Bonus scene:
Zhong Yao is carefree and blunt: when she likes someone, she says so; when she wants them, she goes for it. After her memories return, she makes him cry even more.
Zhong Yao tilts her head back and sighs. The old-fashioned man is so fragile.
In the end, she can't bear it. She cups Si Zhen's face and kisses his eyes, speaking with surprising tenderness. "Just behave, and I promise I won't bully you."
Si Zhen wants to bite the little brat to death. She takes advantage of him losing his powers to bully him.
Reader's Guide:
1. Pretty girl x sly old fox
2. Past and present lives, rebirth and amnesia, alternate universe, with original elements
3. The story follows the heroine's growth. She doesn't suffer in silence, and her memories will return. The entertainment-industry portion is very small, and everything that appears advances the plot.
Theme: Love and peace
