One year, an invasion by some kind of thing caused massive human casualties.
But humanity didn't even know whether the invaders were living creatures. It wasn't until a researcher published the theory of subspace and introduced the concept of consciousness entities that humanity learned about its enemies for the first time. In commemoration, that year was named Year Zero of the Dimension Era.
Ke Wang was born in Year 30 of the Dimension Era.
This year, at twenty years old, he has a perfect life.
He's a rare college student, tall and handsome, and comes from a happy family.
His father may be a nag and a fake do-gooder.
His mother may be cold and strict, and want to hit him whenever he can't solve a problem.
And their little dog eats as much in one meal as other people's dogs eat in eight.
But their family of four has lived peacefully for so many years in the outskirts of the Seventh Frontier City.
That's the happiest thing of all.
The sun is shining today. Ke Wang walks out of the classroom into the sunlight, feeling a little dazed.
A classmate runs after him and asks if he wants to go to the library together.
Thinking of the food his dad made at home, Ke Wang turns him down:
"I'm going home to eat."
"Dad said he's making tomato and beef brisket today."
His classmate looks at him strangely. "Where did you get a dad?"
Ke Wang suddenly remembers. That's right.
Where did I get a dad?
Reading notes:
1. This isn't a supernatural story. The inspiration came from Teacher Chen's five-dimensional space theory, which I happened to see, but I heavily reworked it. If you want to classify it, it should be science fiction.
2. The synopsis may change. Ke Wang is the protagonist.
3. I'll start posting once I've saved up 70,000 words.
This is a story I've wanted to write for a long time.
Theme: Human nature is drawn to the light
