Fresh out of college, Yu Yue faces a host of choices: graduate school, civil service exams, or studying abroad? She's also being pushed into blind dates, despite never having been in a relationship.
Under pressure from every direction, she feels like she can barely breathe. So she runs away to volunteer at a guesthouse on Gulangyu Island in Xiamen.
On her first day on Gulangyu, the person who greets her isn't the middle-aged owner she's been communicating with, but a handsome young man. Yu Yue can't help taking a few extra looks at his good-looking face.
The young man laughs and teases her: “We provide lodging here, not ‘eye candy.’”
One day, by chance, Yu Yue sees a man affectionately linking arms with him outside the guesthouse.
