Lu Ting hates Sui Zhouyu.

He hates how Sui Zhouyu is always watching him, forbidding him from talking to anyone else or letting anyone befriend him. Whenever Lu Ting is accidentally touched by someone, Sui Zhouyu gets so furious he seems insane.

Lu Ting is terrified of him, so after Sui Zhouyu accidentally falls into the water, Lu Ting pretends he didn't see it and quietly walks away.

Sui Zhouyu won't come back. He won't bully or threaten him anymore.

Lu Ting sleeps soundly for a whole day, but the next day, Sui Zhouyu appears again.

Countless slick, icy tentacles reach out of the shadows, faintly reeking as they curl around Lu Ting's wrists and ankles. They pull his knees apart, their suction-cupped ends clinging seductively and intimately to his tender skin, leaving a dense trail of kisses.

The monster wearing Sui Zhouyu's human skin smiles with a sigh.

"I love you so much... my Tingting."

Like someone fleeing a nightmare, Lu Ting escapes home and hides in his room, too scared to go outside.

But the world grows stranger by the day. Repulsive, deformed monsters appear everywhere, the apocalypse descends, and order vanishes.

Lu Ting overhears his stepfather and older brother discussing how to hand him over to an ability user in their building in exchange for food.

Lu Ting is terrified. While his stepfather and brother are asleep, he quietly opens the door and lets the monsters into the house.

Lu Ting survives, but he's starving. He has no choice but to seek out the ability user who wanted him. The man tells him to take off his pants himself. Lu Ting obediently nods, then looks up at the ceiling.

"Sui Zhouyu," he asks, "are you there?"

Countless tentacles burst out at once and envelop the slender boy. They have been carefully cleaned, and amid the bloodshed they give off a pleasant lemon scent.

His vision obscured, Lu Ting hears bones snapping beyond the tentacles, along with a nauseating crunching sound, over and over. At last, the ability user's screams fall silent.

Sui Zhouyu's voice is no longer broken and halting. He says Lu Ting's name smoothly: "Tingting, don't be scared. I'm here to protect you."

In this absurd, bizarre world, Lu Ting has a monster knight. He can eat his fill, and even bathe with hot water.

But Sui Zhouyu's gaze grows hotter and hotter. Every morning, Lu Ting finds dense red marks on his wrists and waist, even on his ankles and the insides of his knees, as if something has been gently stroking and sucking at him.

Lu Ting pretends not to notice. As he goes to bed that night, he resolves to get rid of Sui Zhouyu tomorrow, too.

Just like he got rid of his stepfather and brother.

After all, he's a bad child whom everyone hates.

But he fails.

The monster goes mad.

In a nest made of countless blood vessels and fleshy tumors, the beautiful boy weeps, tears covering his snow-white face. Thick tentacles envelop him, slipping in through his collar, coiling around his waist and belly, filling every inch they can reach.

He begs the monster to stop, but the monster tenderly, inexorably, sinks into his warmest places again and again.

"Tingting, you are not allowed to leave me."

"I'll protect you... You will always belong to me."
