The matron pushed open the door to the gloomy room and saw Gu Yueming, whom I had beaten until he was covered in wounds. She let out a terrified shriek.

"Your Highness, please stop! He's a prince of the Eastern Kingdom. You... You should teach someone else a lesson!"

Gu Yueming was bare-chested, tied up with coarse hemp rope. His body was covered in scars, and at a glance, it was impossible to tell which were from the rope chafing him and which were from the whip.

"What? I am the princess of Great Xia. I can't even play with a dog from a neighboring country?"

My voice was gentle, but my words made him frown.

Feeling my gaze on him, he raised his eyes to look at me.

His expression held neither sorrow nor joy, as if he couldn't feel the humiliation at all.

"B-but... they're only pretending to seek peace. They'll break through the imperial city any moment..."

The matron was so frightened she was about to faint.

I sneered, my eyes filled with madness.

I slapped him again.

Then I placed my jade-white foot, its nails painted bright red, on his chest and looked down at him, admiring his appearance.

"What a bad dog."
