After working overtime for days on end, Yu Ranlin finally met his long-awaited sudden death.
Except he didn't die.
He transmigrated into the CEO romance novel he'd been following and got bound to a mind-reading System.
"So am I now Shen Huai'an, the mighty CEO who rules the business world?" Yu Ranlin's eyes lit up.
[You're his secretary.]
[And you've been bought off by a rival company, so Shen Huai'an is about to find out.]
Yu, the office drone forced to change jobs, cannon-fodder villain Ranlin: I want to die, but I think someone else deserves to die more.
He remembered how the book described Shen Huai'an:
Cold and ruthless, vicious in his methods. Even the cat by his side had blood on its paws.
Yu Ranlin: I just transmigrated into a book and I'm already going to prison?!
[Don't worry, Host. If you successfully win Shen Huai'an over, you'll get a hundred million yuan and a new identity.]
[Besides, I'm a mind-reading System. I'll make sure you can handle Shen Huai'an.]
The System confidently promised, then immediately activated its skill to prove itself.
And Yu Ranlin heard the thoughts of his new boss, Shen Huai'an:
[Who's calling me Mimi? I'm going to name him Sang Biao. Stupid humans. I'll assassinate you tonight.]
Yu Ranlin:?! B-*
System: [...] It's... it's fine. I just happened to bind to Shen Huai'an's cat (T_T).
Yu Ranlin: Goodbye, free air. Tonight, I'm off to make umbrellas for the people.
*
In public, Shen Huai'an is a standoffish CEO who barely acknowledges anyone. In private, he's a devoted cat dad who can't stop going "Mimi" all day long.
And Mimi has picked up the knack: ignoring people, including Shen, his litter-scooping servant.
One day, after Shen, struck by his own boomerang, failed to get Mimi's attention yet again, his possibly traitorous secretary, Yu Ranlin, caught him in the act.
Shen Huai'an: ...This secretary has to go.
The very next second, Mimi turned around and scampered over to Yu Ranlin, meowing pitifully.
Shen Huai'an: ? Are you coming home for dinner tonight, Mimi?
Yu Ranlin seems to have some kind of magic. He can always tell exactly what Mimi wants.
The aloof Mimi turns into a clingy, mewling mess around Yu Ranlin.
Shen Huai'an: :-O
Should I keep this secretary or not?
