A male consort had arrived at the palace. They said he was breathtakingly beautiful, so beautiful that even the emperor had disregarded public opinion and forcibly brought him back.
Yun Zhi scoffed at the idea. She was the first female official ever appointed to serve before the emperor. She didn't even take the empress seriously, let alone this male consort.
While passing through the imperial garden, she happened to meet him. He really was aloof and otherworldly, untouched by worldly concerns. She finally felt a spark of interest, but firmly suppressed it.
That night, the lanterns flickered and the moon shone bright. She looked down at the male consort kneeling before her, clutching her sleeve, his eyes rimmed red and brimming with tears.
"Please... take pity on me."
Hooking a finger under his chin, Yun Zhi studied Song Chen's face. The string in her heart snapped.
After a night of passion, his eyes were tear-stained and red. Yun Zhi brushed them lightly with her fingers, admiring the exquisite sight.
He looked so beautiful when he cried.
She gripped Song Chen by the throat and warned him softly, "From now on, you're mine. I can protect you, or I can cast you aside."
"Take care of yourself. If you get dirty, I won't want you anymore!"
He answered obediently, and she was satisfied.
Yun Zhi hadn't meant anything by it at first, but by chance she discovered the fragile heart hidden beneath his icy exterior.
A former crown prince, reduced to becoming a consort in the imperial harem. No one could have expected it.
Her heart softened, and she grew fond of him.
So she indulged him, protected him, and turned a blind eye to his schemes.
"Why are you so good to me?"
In the courtyard, Song Chen looked at Yun Zhi with hopeful eyes.
"Because you deserve it."
The starlight in Song Chen's eyes blazed in an instant.
Song Chen was the former crown prince. He had infiltrated the imperial harem only to restore his kingdom. In his darkest hour, he met Yun Zhi.
He had meant to use her influence to find a little peace, never imagining that Yun Zhi would give him a world of clarity and calm.
Little by little, Yun Zhi took over his heart until there was no room for anyone else.
Months later, the kingdom changed hands. Song Chen stood before Yun Zhi, his hands stained with blood, only to find her expression distant and her words cold.
"You've become dirty. I don't want you anymore."
Song Chen had done something that broke his promise to Yun Zhi, and now she wanted to leave him.
Panicked, he refused to let her go and forcibly confined her in his palace.
He held a poisonous worm to Yun Zhi's lips. Her voice turned suddenly cold.
"No one can hold me captive. You're no exception."
"I won't allow it!"
In an instant, Song Chen's eyes reddened. His fingertips trembling, he forced her to swallow it.
For a long time, they lived together peacefully. Yun Zhi stayed by Song Chen's side, and he thought she had only been trying to frighten him.
But every word she had said was true.
Pear blossoms fluttered down, and a wine cup toppled and shattered. Yun Zhi cruelly left him behind.
Regret and anguish surged through him. He stared up at the sky, choking on his words as he begged.
"Please... don't leave me."
"I was wrong."

Question: Your target has been poisoned with an aphrodisiac and is lying in front of you with his eyes tightly shut. What should you do?
Audience lifeline suggests:
A. Sleep with him (recommendation: 25%)
B. Take him (recommendation: 30%)
C. Remove the poison yourself (recommendation: 50%)
Chu Sui'an fell silent. "I'll choose option four!"
D. Let him sleep with you (recommendation: 100%)
Chu Sui'an gaped. Why was option four miles ahead of the others?
Comments: Come on, the second male lead is half-ghost, part human and part ghost, with stamina through the roof. He'll switch between hot and cold. How thrilling!
Chu Sui'an: Are you people sick? Is this really something you can say in a livestream?
Chu Sui'an was a mission challenger who transmigrated into a cultivation novel, becoming the junior sister who caused discord between the characters.
She had to maintain her character and win over the second male lead, Yun Yan. Otherwise, she'd be torn apart by horses, turned into a human pillar, and die a cruel, inhuman death!
"No one told me failure came with a punishment like this," Chu Sui'an said in shock.
"Host, you didn't ask," the System replied with a cheeky grin.
She swallowed back a mouthful of blood.
The mission was practically hellish. To survive, Chu Sui'an tried every trick she could think of to win Yun Yan over.
Yun Yan was the ultimate sweet-on-the-outside, sinister-on-the-inside type. In the book, he was the second male lead who loved the heroine's master but couldn't have him. He loathed Chu Sui'an, whom the heroine had brought back along with him.
Trying to win over someone like him gave Chu Sui'an a splitting headache.
"Your tactics are shallow and crude. Don't think they'll work on me just because they work on others."
Yun Yan's gaze was icy, his words dripping with scorn.
Chu Sui'an: ...
What a nightmare!
Flattery got her nowhere, so Chu Sui'an gave up and stopped trying. If he was sharp-tongued, she'd snap back. If he put on an act of innocence, she'd call him out...
Yun Yan's eyes were full of barbs. "Can't keep up the act anymore? Decided to show your true colors?"
Chu Sui'an gave him a fake smile. "Yes. Just for you!"
The atmosphere froze. Chu Sui'an met Yun Yan's dark gaze and felt her scalp prickle.
This was going to end badly.
System: "Yun Yan's favorability +10."
Chu Sui'an was astonished. Looking at Yun Yan, cold as frost, she slowly understood.
Oh! So he was the kind who said one thing but meant another.
Yun Yan had a secret: he was half-ghost, and no one knew.
He had another secret: he was in love with his master.
He liked no one but his master. The person he hated most was Chu Sui'an, whom his master had brought back. She was a spoiled brat and an expert at sowing discord.
He had tried several times to kill Chu Sui'an just to get it out of his system.
But before he could act, he gradually realized that Chu Sui'an seemed to have changed.
Yun Yan wanted to see what she was up to, so he kept a close eye on her. But as he watched, things began to develop in a way he never could have predicted.
She placed her left hand over her right, palms together, while her lively voice filled his ears.
"If the gods won't save you, I will!"
I think... I've fallen for her.
"Weren't you going to save me?" Yun Yan said with a languid smile, undoing her sash. "Then save me."
Chu Sui'an's eyes brimmed with tears. She couldn't explain herself!
This kind of saving wasn't that kind of saving!
Who taught him that pun? That's a point off!
Theme: Be brave enough to be yourself and follow your heart
The emotional drama in the early stage was okay, but the ending was a bit rushed. The heroine actually returned to the palace and became a female official... Doesn't that mean that the heroine finally compromised on the hero? The heroine in the back gives people the impression that she wants the male protagonist to leave the palace with her, and then when the two people leave the palace "many years later" in the ending, it feels weird 😩 Come on, author!
I really hate Pei Xiangzhi!! When the person was alive, I couldn't see that you liked her at all, but after the person died, you started to be affectionate?? He has no sense of guilt when someone else is killed because of his own fault, and he still makes rude jokes to others.
What did the male protagonist pay for the restoration of the country? Can he become emperor without his men? The male protagonist said that he did not want to be the emperor, but he was quite happy to use his power to suppress others. He could also easily say to the female protagonist, "I give you my kingdom." Blood and human life are not tools you use to express your love.
So the male protagonist was born when the country fell? No memory of that scene? It seems that I can't see the hatred of the male protagonist. He feels that he is being forced. He has a heavy burden on his shoulders and is under a lot of pressure. He doesn't want to do something. He has been struggling with it. The female protagonist may ignore him if he does something too much. This is more important than revenge.
Why doesn't the heroine clarify what she did if she wasn't a behind-the-scenes person? Just keep misunderstanding like this? The male protagonist also said, "I have never heard anyone say that she is a secret agent, so she is not." Is this serious? Aren't you hurting the heroine?
The male protagonist should stop being the emperor and follow the female protagonist. Ji Qin is so diligent and dedicated to restoring the country and yet he is treated like this. Why are the three of them, the male protagonist and the female protagonist Ji, so aggrieved?
What is the male protagonist doing? He's still there to say sorry after he's done something. Then don't do it [question mark]
I feel like the plot is a bit outrageous at this point. What's going on?
"Father, you can have male concubines, why don't you let me recruit a female concubine!" Oh my, the best MVP in the game Sun Miaoyan
