First, Zhai Jiu had lost his memory. He could not remember the grudge between them, or that Zhai Xiashi had killed him once.

Second, as Zhai Jiu's vitality slowly revived, the old wounds Zhai Xiashi had suffered in her life-and-death battle with him began to heal bit by bit.

It had been a long time since Zhai Xiashi had felt her strength so full and real.

Once she discovered there was no sign that Zhai Jiu would recover his memories, Zhai Xiashi was thrilled and began searching the world for the rest of his remnant soul.

Every time she found another fragment of Zhai Jiu, Zhai Xiashi could feel herself taking another step toward the peak of her strength. And it was great that Zhai Jiu had lost his memory.

Excellent. Zhai Jiu believed whatever Zhai Xiashi said. If she told him to go east, he would never go west. If she asked him to massage her shoulders, he would never pound her legs. Her days could not have been more carefree.

But after spending years immersed in the peace and stability of modern society, Zhai Xiashi had never once considered what would happen if Zhai Jiu regained his memories one day.

Zhai Xiashi thought everything was going splendidly. Yet as the remnant souls went up by one, then another, then one more, she noticed that Zhai Jiu was using more and more force whenever he massaged her shoulders.

Suddenly jolting upright as if near death, Zhai Xiashi turned around and met Zhai Jiu's amused, knowing gaze.

She had gone too far. This time, it seemed she had really brought him back to life.
