In her first life, Qu Zhinan was a cultivation prodigy, famous throughout the land at just sixteen. Gu Fanxi was a little ghost who had lost her memories and nearly been refined by someone. After Qu Zhinan saved her and took her in, the two fell in love over time.
In this life, Qu Zhinan is an orphan found on a mountain by a Taoist temple. Born with the ability to see yin and yang, she has no parents and is missing part of her soul. No one knows where she came from or what fate has in store for her. Gu Fanxi, once only a little ghost, has become an ordinary mortal who is naturally frail but constantly attracts ghosts. A trip down the mountain brings the two together again.
At first, the two should have had a simple client-and-Taoist relationship: one paid, the other did the job. But a magical artifact sold by Qu Zhinan ties them together, forcing them to travel from place to place, summoning and eliminating ghosts while investigating the artifact.
Their journey belongs to the present, yet is entangled with their past lives. The heavens slowly unfurl a centuries-old scroll before them, and the twists of fate finally reach their conclusion a hundred years later.
