Sayaka is hopelessly obsessed with black-haired people.
Osamu Dazai knows all about Sayaka's problem, and has warned her time and again: don't just pick people up and bring them home.
And if she does pick someone up, they're always dangerous people, every last one of them.
She's picked up a black-haired, curly-haired Port Mafia executive, a black-haired information broker roaming the streets of Ikebukuro, and a black-haired cult leader with narrow, smiling eyes.
Every single one of them is an extremely dangerous criminal.
Osamu Dazai has told her over and over: stop bringing people home.
On a gloomy, rainy day in Tokyo, Sayaka picked up a soaking wet puppy with curly hair.
The boy in his Karasuno uniform had been caught in the rain. His slightly curly black hair was flattened by the heavy downpour, and water dripped from the ends. One drop landed on the back of Sayaka's hand.
It was astonishingly warm.
Sayaka, completely bewitched, thought, Sorry, A-ji. This is absolutely the last time.
From then on, she was no longer a stray without a puppy of her own.
*
A black-haired puppy who's been spoiled will push his luck and keep closing in.
He wants the slippers set aside just for him at her home. He wants a special pet name. He wants the right to stay at her place. He wants everything everyone else has ever had, and even dares to claim what no one else will ever be able to have from now on.
"You won't turn me down, will you?"
Uchiumi Tenma took Sayaka's hand and knelt before her, one knee on the floor. Sayaka sat on the sofa as he held her hand, pressing the back of it to his cheek.
He put on a submissive, obedient act, but couldn't hide his greedy, unruly heart.
