There's Something Improper in Her Gaze

[Ensemble stories, multiple couples]

Alien species invade the city. Judging by their appearance alone, they are indistinguishable from humans.

1. Every weekend, Yuan Tiao likes to stop by the bakery near her home.

The owner, Shan Feiwan, is warm and generous, and the smell of freshly baked bread always helps people relax.

Perhaps the atmosphere was simply too soothing. That day, finally escaping the pressure of work, Yuan Tiao came in for a short break, only to fall asleep without realizing it.

When she woke, Shan Feiwan was holding her face. Every breath she took carried the natural scent of bread. She asked, "You've been tasting me for so long. Isn't it about time you let me taste you?"

2. Fang Deyi was suddenly set up on a blind date, and at first she had no intention of going.

But at their first meeting, Ying Gu laid out terms she couldn't refuse.

From meeting to getting their marriage certificates, it took them only seven days. They were simply sharing a life of convenience, each getting what they needed and otherwise leaving the other in peace.

While Ying Gu was away on a business trip, Fang Deyi invited friends home for dinner. After everyone had left, an invisible force pressed her down onto the sofa. In a restrained, icy voice, it asked, "You're warmer to them than you are to me. Haven't I been good enough?"

3. When she heard that a new neighbor had moved in across the way, Guan Jianyue didn't care.

Whoever it was, they couldn't be as annoying as her new deskmate, Xin Xian.

Until the day she opened her window and saw Xin Xian standing by the windowsill, leisurely watering the wild grass growing on the balcony in the breeze.

Guan Jianyue drew the curtains and never opened them again. So she never noticed the wild grass growing wildly from across the way, often prying open her window in the middle of the night and creeping to the edge of her bed to whisper, "Why won't you look at me?"
