Before being reborn, Adrian was a stray cat with no ambitions. His greatest wish in life was to get a permanent job at a cat cafe and live a carefree life, fed and housed by humans.
The good news: After being reborn, Adrian gets to live the life he dreamed of.
The bad news: He becomes a little Portuguese boy without a coat of fur to protect him.
The even worse news: His human father in this life, Mourinho, is an obsessive parent who starts planning his football career as soon as he learns to walk.
Little scenes
1. Messi, in Barcelona's youth academy, is tormented by growing pains and worried about his future. Adrian calmly reassures him: You'll win the Ballon d'Or someday.
2. Tiny, tiny, tiny, tiny Ronaldo clutches his childhood friend's hand and cries buckets as he waits for heart surgery. Adrian says warmly: You'll win the Ballon d'Or someday.
3. Modric has just arrived at Real Madrid and is miserable after being called the biggest flop ever. Adrian presents him with another award: You'll win the Ballon d'Or someday too.
Notes
1. The name may change. Adrian is just a placeholder for now. The protagonist has black curls and blue cat eyes. He's a cool, sharp-tongued little fairy cat, extremely hypocritical, and aligned with chaotic good. That's all.
2. Barcelona -> Porto -> Chelsea -> Inter Milan -> Real Madrid -> ? He basically follows his dad from club to club.
3. I want to write some romance, but there will be no romance with Cristiano Ronaldo. They're just buddies who get up to mischief together.
But the premise may be better suited to no pairing. I'll write up some chapters first and see how it goes. If it feels like it works better as a story about him shining on his own, I'll change the category. Yay.
