The night they received their marriage certificate, the power went out in their apartment complex.
Late at night, the room was stiflingly hot. Half-asleep, Jiang Xinyao had a strange dream in which someone put handcuffs on her.
The dream felt too real. She forced her eyes open and turned her head to see Shen Xu sitting by the bed.
The young man looked exceptionally well-behaved. He paused, then quickly put on an innocent smile. "Sister, why are you awake?"
Shen Xu held the marriage contract they'd signed that day and a gleaming silver key. He leaned over, gently stroking Jiang Xinyao's cheek with a soft laugh, then tore the paper to shreds right in front of her.
Their summer clothes were thin, and his warm kisses fell one by one.
"Look, Sister. We're finally together."
