Also known as: The Soft Beauty of the Apocalypse Becomes Terrifyingly Strong After Clinging to a Powerful Man; The Amnesiac Beauty Recovers Her Spirit Companion and Turns Out to Be Terrifying
Pei Yao has lost her memory.
She remembers her name and the rules of society. She remembers that the man in front of her, Qin Lie, is the newly ascendant ruler of District Four... She remembers plenty, but she's forgotten her background, where she came from, and whether she ever had a spirit companion.
"Ruler, she's a defective."
Pei Yao hears one of Qin Lie's subordinates say this.
She has no spirit companion by her side, so she's a defective.
Then Qin Lie offers his hand. His large hand is bony and veined, radiating the strength of someone weathered by countless hardships.
He says, "Stay with me. I'll keep you safe." His voice is cold, without a hint of tenderness, yet it somehow inspires trust.
Pei Yao takes his hand. She knows Qin Lie is honorable and uninterested in women. He would never make things difficult for her.
But...
"Qin Lie, I'm still young. I don't want this."
"Qin Lie, you saved me. You'll treat me well. You'd never make me suffer."
"Qin Lie, you're so nice. I'll respect you like a father."
Qin Lie: ...
Qin Lie is frustrated. The girl he rescued always calls him Dad.
But he likes her. He doesn't want to be her father.
So he goes to great lengths to please her and give her everything she wants.
But one day, the girl he's cherished in the palm of his hand runs without hesitation toward the opposing camp and throws herself into another man's arms.
