[What should you do when you have a wolf cub who turns against you?]
[...Play with him, I guess.]
Our story isn't about the protagonist's deeds. It's about a supporting character, the eldest prince, who was suspicious by nature from childhood and never forgot his late mother's wish: kill his father.
The people in the palace treated him differently from a young age, leaving him with a chronic illness. Frail as a willow, he had to pause for breath after every step. He thought he was destined to live out his life in misery, until one day he happened to pick up a docile puppy.
Their first meeting felt like fate. They seemed to complement each other in every way.
But that dog was a treacherous ingrate who turned around and bit the hand that fed him. He used the prince as a pawn to kill others, made him lose his "family," left him with no confidant to confide in, and threw the established order into chaos, leaving the people destitute. Yet this man, who wasn't even the crown prince, became the new emperor of Pei because he had that backstabbing puppy at his side.
"Ah... I have a plan," the puppy said with a smile. "Would you care to hear it?"
But his master wasn't exactly a good person, you know...
What kind of ending awaits two people who love and hurt each other?
He will never submit.
Loyalty meets suspicion.
An independent worldbuilding setting.
