On the first day of senior year, I nervously boarded the bus to Hyotei. I was Shuchiin's only exchange student going to study there this year.
A week before school started, I was inexplicably informed by the school that I was being moved from the B class I'd originally been assigned to A class.
No reason. No explanation.
Before the new term had even begun, a problem had suddenly landed in my lap.
On the way to my new school, I asked my dad anxiously:
"Dad, you know how I'm already unlucky enough to be in the same class as your boss's son? What if I accidentally end up sitting next to him too? What am I supposed to do?"
My dad's boss's son, Young Master Atobe, is the only heir to a top conglomerate and the prospective next president.
He's currently a senior in Hyotei Academy's A class.
Arrogant, full of himself, and convinced he's the best in the world.
He doesn't look easy to approach, so it's best to keep my distance.
Dad didn't seem concerned. He tossed a mint into my hand.
"Do what you have to do. What, were you planning to turn this into some kind of masterpiece?"
I fretted, my head bowed as I picked at the candy wrapper.
"I'm just worried I'll offend him somehow, and then you'll lose your job as chief technology officer because of me."
Heh.
Turns out my dad really was a great prophet.
On the day senior year ended, my exchange student life came to an end.
As I looked at the ring box the person across from me had gently placed on the table, and met the questioning look in his eyes, I fell into thought and said to myself:
Haha, Dad, your daughter really has turned this into a masterpiece.
---- Reading Guide ----
● When the king goes courting, of course he needs a strategy. There's always a wolf's den or tiger's lair that's just right for you. Even the emperor himself would have to suffer a little in this battle of love. A school romance about a couple of students.
The heroine's academic plotline, with research and projects, is something I made up. Don't take it too seriously.
● Mainly a crossover with The Prince of Tennis and Kaguya-sama: Love Is War (as a background setting). You don't need to know the original works to enjoy it. Besides the romance, there are also everyday scenes with the heroine's family and friends. There is very little competition depicted.
● If you don't like it, just click away. My glass heart will shatter beyond repair if you insult me or any character, sob. Please don't mention other authors in the comments, and don't mention me to other authors.
