Zhou Ye has a secret. Ever since she can remember, she has occasionally seen fragments of the future in her dreams. The future cannot be changed, and none of her dreams has ever been successfully altered. Zhou Ye has tried again and again to prevent the deaths of people in her dreams, only to fail every time. She has grown increasingly quiet and gradually given up trying.
Until one day, she dreams that her grown-up self has become a criminal, leading a group of people in a shootout with the police.
Zhou Ye, rebellious high school senior: "..." She thinks she can still turn things around.
The scene was too shocking. Remembering that her mother was the only one left at home, she resolved to change the future and become a good person, so that the heart-pounding events in her dream would never happen. Yet fate replayed the scene in another form.
One day, when she realizes that the scene before her is identical to the one in her dream, Zhou Ye, running from the police, doesn't know whether to laugh or cry.
Office of the Chief of the Wenlin City Public Security Bureau
Chief Zhang grinned. "Are you sure you want to join Squad One? You know what people say about them, right?"
Zhou Ye, who wanted to slack off: "I've heard. Apparently Squad One has a natural airhead who laughs all day, a sniper who can't shoot, a playboy who only knows how to eat, drink, and have fun, and me, a freak who collects skulls. Sounds like a great place to take it easy."
Chief Zhang's expression turned serious, though he was secretly delighted. "All right, you're in Squad One."
Zhou Ye, after joining the team, stared blankly: "..."
After seeing her teammates' incredible abilities, she realized Chief Zhang had tricked her. Who had spread those ridiculous rumors? This wasn't a gathering place for useless people. It was an elite training camp! Everyone was working way too hard.
A new recruit joined Squad One of the Major Crimes Unit of the Wenlin City Public Security Bureau's Criminal Investigation Department. She was a policewoman, and word was that she was beautiful.
Before anyone on Squad One could get a look at her, they heard that the new policewoman had beaten up their captain, Jiang Lai. The team members were secretly delighted. Even the cold and ruthless Captain Jiang could have a bad day. But could a policewoman that fierce really join their team?
The new policewoman, Zhou Ye, joined without a hitch. On the job, she displayed exceptional talent and all sorts of skills she knew just a little bit about. Sometimes, though, she slacked off too much, and Captain Jiang had to use his astonishing powers of observation to notice and then unconsciously radiate his workaholic energy until she got swept up in the grind.
This is a story about a heroine who, gifted with foresight, finds the unchanging future dull and despairing and gives up trying, until a relentlessly driven workaholic hero breaks her out of her foreordained fate.
