1.

In her youth, Chi Ni was spoiled and headstrong, and did plenty of reckless things.

The most reckless of all was winning a bet by pursuing Pei Yanshi, the universally admired, untouchable heartthrob, until he became hers.

The day they broke up happened to be a snowy one. Pei Yanshi stood alone in the snow all night.

Chi Ni watched with cold eyes, feeling only annoyed. "Pei Yanshi, you're making this so boring."

2.

They met again at a friend's wedding banquet.

Pei Yanshi was now the head of the Pei family in Beicheng, someone everyone in the city wanted to curry favor with.

Her friend told Chi Ni about his ruthless methods, then cautioned her carefully, "Don't provoke him again."

When she ran into him, Chi Ni made a point of keeping her distance. "Mr. Pei, please behave yourself."

Pei Yanshi chuckled at that, tightening his grip around her ankle as he looked up at her with a cold gaze. "Chi Ni, when you were playing with me back then..."

"You weren't exactly behaving yourself."

Not long afterward, a family-arranged marriage brought Chi Ni to point casually at someone, and by a twist of fate she became engaged to Pei Yanshi's younger brother.

At the Pei family banquet, Chi Ni followed her fiance and greeted Pei Yanshi respectfully. "Big Brother."

After a few rounds of drinks, her fiance came looking for her.

In a room separated from the banquet hall by a single wall, someone knocked on the door.

Behind it, Pei Yanshi pinned Chi Ni's hands and swallowed her soft whimpers, kissing her with savage intensity. "It has to be like this for it to be interesting, doesn't it?"

"Sister-in-law?"

- If you can't have it, take it.

- When spring comes, let's run away together.

* A spoiled, radiant heiress VS a possessive, calculating family powerbroker

Wen Song first met Gu Siyan aboard a private yacht.

Under the hazy moonlight on the deck, the man leaned against the railing, languidly lighting a cigarette.

Afterward, Wen Song ended things cleanly and decisively.

They met again a week later.

At the time, Wen Song was being turned away from a high-society event, looking utterly miserable.

Gu Siyan watched from afar as she made a spectacle of herself before finally stepping in to help. "Miss Wen, are you looking for a male companion?"

Wen Song clenched her fingers, doing her best to save face. "What if I say I already have one?"

Gu Siyan leaned lazily toward her, his smile seductive as he whispered in her ear, "Then dump him and take me instead."

In the two years Wen Song spent by Gu Siyan's side, she enjoyed all the perks and basked in everyone's flattery.

After hearing so much praise, she would sometimes lose herself and think they really were made for each other.

When their passion was at its height, Wen Song asked him, "Gu Siyan, do you want to marry me?"

Gu Siyan froze for a long while before answering with a hoarse laugh, "I dream of it."

He dreamed of it.

What about when he was awake?

That night, as they drifted through a haze of passion, her question was drowned out by an almost suffocating kiss.

Wen Song knew...

What they had was a reckless dream from the start.

4.

The day she heard about the Gu family's marriage alliance, Wen Song packed her bags overnight and left without hesitation.

At a welcome-home banquet on the other side of the ocean, a friend tried to console her.

Wen Song only smiled dismissively. "It was just a fling."

After the drinks ended, Gu Siyan came rushing after her, travel-worn.

He pressed her into a corner, pinning her there with fury as he gritted out each word. "Wen Song, who the hell said this was just a fling?"
