Life is hard. There's often nothing to eat after the last meal, and going hungry every other day is nothing unusual.
People in the tribe like to take their beast forms and go outside to fight. Win, and you get meat. Lose, and all you can do is chew grass.
They're all crazier than the next, completely unhinged. Du Shu feels deeply uneasy, so even at his young age, he has no choice but to draw on his Flower Kingdom ancestors' traditional skills: reclaiming wasteland and transplanting edible plants.
At first, the people of the tribe look at him as if he's an idiot. But when autumn comes, Du Shu's fields yield a bumper harvest, and an aroma they've never smelled before wafts out of his home. The uncultured primitives crowd around the house in layer upon layer.
Later, Du Shu becomes the tribe's treasure. When he says they're eating vegetarian today, no one dares take a bite of meat.
