Synopsis
Xie Jingmeng was reborn.
In her previous life, she was the heroine of an old-school melodramatic romance. Unable to get over her deceased idealized first love, she treated the original male lead, Xie Yi, as a substitute. They loved and fought each other, plagued by misunderstandings. In the end, the second male lead, who had fallen in love with her at first sight, betrayed her, leaving her abandoned by everyone.
As she lay dying, she regretted everything and finally remembered how good the male lead had been to her.
Then, through her regretful tears, the male lead made his dazzling entrance.
But before he could save her and make a heartfelt confession, a strange young man rushed in and acted first.
The young man had beautiful features and picturesque brows and eyes, looking every bit like a siren from the deep sea, enchanting all who saw him.
It was what he said that left her baffled.
He said, “Jingmeng, I love you.”
Xie Jingmeng: “...I understand the logic, but you saved me. So who is the male lead supposed to save?”
No one could answer her question.
The young man suddenly appeared and took the deadliest blow meant for her. But there was a second blow after the first, then a third.
The righteous forces, their eyes red with bloodlust, swarmed them. Even the male lead couldn't protect her.
As her consciousness faded for the last time, Jingmeng's mind was filled with one furious thought:
Where the hell did this villain come from? He's ruining everything!
Without ever reaching a happy ending, Xie Jingmeng died just like that, for no apparent reason.
It was a particularly frustrating way to die.
In her next life, Xie Jingmeng plans to follow the script and suffer as little as possible.
Who knew that she wouldn't be the only one reborn? Everyone around her had apparently been replaced by someone else, too.
This world had been turned into a sieve by all kinds of transmigrators seeking to win someone's heart.
Every one of them had a script in hand and help from a System.
The only catch was that each transmigrator had a different script. Their one thing in common was that they were all trying to win Jingmeng's heart.
So Xie Jingmeng watches helplessly as these powerful figures from her previous life launch straight into their roles without missing a beat:
Her half-sister, the scheming and sweet-talking second female lead, wears a bashful expression. “My domineering master has fallen for me. Sister, you must wish us well!”
Her fiancé, the second male lead who fell in love with her at first sight, covers his right eye and looks pained. “I've returned after being possessed. This time, I'll reclaim everything that belongs to me!”
And the gloomy male lead, who was originally supposed to torture her in body and soul for a hundred years, stares at her for a long moment before suddenly throwing his head back and shouting, “Thirty years east of the river, thirty years west of the river. Don't look down on a poor young man!”
The male lead's echo rings across the sky.
Xie Jingmeng: “???”
At the same time, she discovers that the early-deceased idealized first love, who had only been briefly mentioned in the script, is now by her side.
The book says that this idealized first love was a merfolk, peerlessly beautiful, who completely turned the young and naive Jingmeng's head.
So, after being reborn, Xie Jingmeng visits this first love with a spirit of inquiry: hearing is not believing, seeing is believing.
Then all the transmigrators see their target, under the bright daylight and open sky, pinned beneath the intertwined tree in the courtyard by that young merfolk, her face flushed red.
Noticing everyone's gaze, Su Qin lifts his eyelids and looks at them coolly.
In his impossibly beautiful eyes is a terrifyingly intense possessiveness.
The crowd scatters like startled birds.
Su Qin's gaze returns to Xie Jingmeng.
Then he bends down and leans closer, enclosing the girl completely in his arms. He turns his head and breathes softly against her neck.
“Jingmeng, have I ever told you that I'm not a transmigrator trying to win your heart?”
The alarms in Jingmeng's head shriek wildly, but her legs betray her and go weak.
Xie Jingmeng: “He's a seductively beautiful demon! He has to be!”
Bonus scene:
When she opens her eyes again, Xie Jingmeng has returned to a hundred years earlier.
The original male lead hasn't appeared yet.
Her mother is berating her without pause.
“He's nothing but a lowly merfolk. What makes him worthy of being your idealized first love? Would you really throw away the wealth and status awaiting you for this so-called love...”
Xie Jingmeng: (nodding vigorously) “Yes, Mother, you're absolutely right.”
As she listens to her mother's lecture, she nods unconsciously, then suddenly shakes her head.
Wait, didn't her first love die?
The sun sets, and the moon rises above the willow branches.
She sees the young man in front of her, sneaking into her bedchamber under the cover of the midnight moonlight
His features are exquisite, his brows and eyes like a painting. In the night, he looks even more like an alluring siren of the sea.
Xie Jingmeng blinks again and again. “Are you a merfolk?”
The young man across from her smiles and nods.
Xie Jingmeng asks again, “Are you the one I loved first?”
The young man is taken aback, then hooks his eyes up with a smile and nods again.
Jingmeng almost falls off her chair.
Damn it! That vile villain actually dared to impersonate her first love!
Devoted transmigrators, please wait another lifetime!
1. The worldbuilding is original, and the story focuses on romance. Starting in chapter two, it turns into a super-Mary-Sue-style romantic free-for-all.
2. One-on-one romance, both are virgins, happy ending.
3. The transmigrators' feelings for the heroine all start out fake and become genuine. The male lead was originally a person from the heroine's world, and she is the only person he has ever loved, body and soul.
4. Please add the novel to your favorites. I look forward to your comments!
Theme: I will love you forever.
