The Miaojiang Girl and Her Sickly Husband

Shifu says that women from Miaojiang have a bad reputation and that it is hard for them to find husbands.

Shannai believes this wholeheartedly. She spends three years refining a love gu, intending to use it to find herself an ideal husband.

The moment she opens the lid, a man drops from the sky and crushes the love gu to death.

Shannai is furious and wants him to be buried alongside her future husband. But after seeing the man's face, she changes her mind and decides to make him her husband instead.

Her husband is stunningly handsome, well-read, and perfect in every way, except that he is frail and sickly.

Shannai manages to nurse her ailing husband back to health. When he says he has an urgent family matter to take care of and asks her to wait three years, she agrees.

Three years pass, and her husband does not return.

When Shannai finds him, he is marrying another woman.

She understands. After all, even when he only coughs with misty eyes, her husband is alluring enough to turn heads.

Shannai kills the bride and performs the wedding rites with her husband. When she lifts the bridal veil, she looks up and hands him a wooden box.

It contains the love gu she refined for him during the three years she waited.

Shannai tilts her head. “Will you eat it yourself, or should I feed it to you?”
