The Struggles of a Famous Northern Song Official

Everyone's saying: Give the Northern Song Dynasty a new lease on life! (A power fantasy about strengthening the nation)

Jiang Yu, a top scholar in both civil and military examinations during the Tang Dynasty, rose to the highest ranks of court, only to be suspected by the emperor and meet a tragic end.

When he opened his eyes again, he'd fallen from the clouds into the mud, reincarnated as a prisoner in the Great Song Dynasty.

??? I struggled my whole life, only to come back and find myself behind bars?

Now that I get another life, I can't die in prison... No, I have to figure out how to climb back to the pinnacle of power!

If nothing else, I can take the imperial exams all over again.

Taking advantage of the children's examinations, fourteen-year-old Jiang Yu passed the highest imperial examination and successfully entered government service.

The road to success wasn't lonely. He met the woman fate had chosen for him: Shen Zhibai, the first female official of the Great Song Dynasty.

"If only we had flying generals at Dragon City, the barbarian horses would never cross the Yin Mountains! Hahahahaha!"

In 986 CE, during the third year of the Yongxi era, Emperor Taizong of Song's northern campaign ended in defeat. Two hundred thousand imperial troops were all but wiped out. In November of the same year, the Liao launched a counterattack, and the few tens of thousands of elite troops remaining in Hejian were completely annihilated.

From then on, the best opportunity to recover the Sixteen Prefectures of Yanyun was lost, and Emperor Taizong switched from offense to defense.

It would take another four hundred years and two dynasties before the lands of You and Yan were finally recovered during the Ming Dynasty.

No! It shouldn't have happened this way!

Shen Zhibai was a history student. Whenever she read about this humiliating period in the history of the two Song dynasties, she wished she could change it.

Until she actually arrived in that era...

Together with her future husband, Jiang Yu, she swept through the bureaucracy, dealt with natural disasters, rebuilt the nation's strength, raised horses and trained troops, and went to war.

They rode down the Khitan, reclaimed the lost lands, and restored the Central Plains!
