I Give Him Moonlight [1vN]

A powerful, high-ranking heiress adopted by a prominent family x a kindhearted, softhearted actor

[Full manuscript complete, undergoing major revisions]

Faced with her family and all they had done to raise her, Chen Xia gave up on that relationship without a moment's hesitation or struggle. Yet four years earlier, during her exchange-student year in Taipei, her reckless, secret love affair with the young actor Gu Jianting had been the only time in twenty years of walking on eggshells that Chen Xia could breathe and be herself.

She wasn't at fault. She simply had no choice.

Years of repression had left her chronically ill, clinging to life in a mortal body that had to sustain the perfect noblewoman everyone needed.

The season of romance was lovely, and her loneliness boundless.

When they met again at a reception, Gu Jianting had matured with the years, his masculine charm more intoxicating than ever. Handsome and imposing, with sharp features, he brought her old delusions rushing back with a single glance.

She had seen how deeply he once loved her.

She watched him hate her until his eyes were bloodshot, and laughed in relief.

"What makes you think you can crook a finger and have me come crawling back like a dog?"

"I don't think that. But a crook of my finger is enough to shut down your entire production crew."

"Don't make me keep hating you."

"Plenty of people hate me. I can do without your hatred."

She wielded the power that had wounded her soul, becoming the very kind of person she despised: someone who used power to crush others. She brought all her might to bear against him.

Because she was losing her mind.

Would he fall with her? Like they had in Taipei. A desperate tangle, reckless to the very end.

As the storm clouds gathered once more, a mystery of their past came to light. They kissed amid the world's confusion and disapproval.

When she had imprisoned herself and let her illness consume her, he came to save her again.

Content warning: A story about dark, deranged, scheming adults. Little genuine affection. Updates aren't daily, but it won't be abandoned. The completed manuscript is proving hard to finish revising.

Theme: Cross the impossible divide and embrace. The world is in your eyes.
