Jiang Kuangye, a furniture designer, transmigrates into the body of a notorious layabout in a village.
His parents are both dead. He spends his days doing nothing, lets the family fields go to waste, and instead heads to town every few days to gamble with dice.
The day he transmigrates is the day the original owner is supposed to get married. He was betrothed as a child to a girl from the Xia family in the same village, and now that they're old enough to marry, of course the wedding has to go ahead!
Jiang Kuangye refuses. Jiang Kuangye says no. He likes men, so how can he marry a girl?
But when he looks up, he sees a young man sitting on the wedding bed, with a handsome, neat face and clear, bright eyes that sparkle.
Jiang Kuangye says, "I'm healthy and have no bad habits. I have a grandma at home and a little brother to support. I'm skilled at carpentry and can make money."
His husband is gentle and handsome, absolutely the ideal man for a gay guy, though he's too thin. Jiang Kuangye only wants to earn lots of money and put some weight on his little husband.
So he picks up his old trade again and becomes the village's only carpenter.
He sells all-inclusive baby carriages to families with newborns, recommends loft-bed-and-desk designs to the town academy, introduces shopkeepers to wardrobes with separate compartments, and even gives away ten carved clothes hangers.
In just one year, the Jiang family has built a house with gray brick walls and tiled roofs. Everyone in the village praises Jiang Kuangye. Who still remembers that he used to be the village's infamous no-gooder?

Xia Qu is a young man from the Xia family. His younger sister was betrothed to a layabout from the same village, but their parents couldn't bear to send her off to marry a hooligan, so they forced him to take her place.
Xia Qu has long heard about Jiang Kuangye's reputation. He thinks he's gone from one pit straight into a tiger's den, and that the layabout will beat him to death once he finds out his bride has been switched.
Xia Qu is terrified, but the tall, handsome man reaches out to him and says, "I can make money. I won't let you live a hard life."
Xia Qu is dazed. He feels as if a ray of light has shone into his life.
