Synopsis
As their flight slips away, helpless Ju Baici and her grandmother, Luo Suhua, are plunged into an apocalypse overrun by zombies. With no choice, they set out on a journey to reunite with their family...
[Western Base Excerpt:]
“Xiao Ci, your father has turned into a zombie. Don’t grieve too much! The most important thing right now is to protect yourself. You and Grandma have to look out for each other.”
“Xiao Ci, the whole country is in chaos now. Every place with the means to do so is building a survivor base. Mom has already joined the Central Base, one of the five major bases. Researchers get special privileges, so you and Grandma have to find a way to get back to City A, no matter what.”
“Xiao Ci, the province next to yours has established the largest base in the northwest. You can stop there on your way through. Mom may be able to arrange for someone to pick you up.”
“Xiao Ci, research shows that the crystals in zombie brains can be used to upgrade abilities. Since you’ve already awakened an ability, collect as many as you can, as long as it’s within your capabilities!”
“Xiao Ci, they found out that I awakened an ability the day before yesterday. My situation is very dangerous. You and Grandma shouldn’t come here yet. Wait for me to contact you.”

“Wu Dairong, so much for family! Now that Shaofeng has his own family, you may not care about him, but Yuanyuan is still your grandson, isn’t he? Are you really going to stand by and watch your little brats bully him?”
Zhuo Wenfang’s heart was breaking. Her daughter and son-in-law had gone missing, her eldest granddaughter had been sent back to her beast of a father, her youngest grandson had been left with his ruthless grandfather, and she herself had been locked up in a care home for the elderly. She was truly trapped with nowhere to turn!
“Some grandfather you are, and a base leader to boot! You’re nothing but a muddleheaded bully who plays favorites and picks on the weak!” Luo Suhua was, of course, just as furious on behalf of her in-law.

“You want to buy food? Fine. Trade your entire Central Base for it!” said Feng Baiming, the Southern Base leader’s eldest son.
“What?!” Ju Baici stared at him in disbelief, wondering if her hearing had gone wrong.
[Ten Years Later, the New Era:]
“Even though the zombies are gone, the only land we have left is full of viruses. Can humanity really keep living like this?” Standing atop a snowy mountain and gazing at the salt-crusted soil, Ju Baici was at a loss.
“The latest research results are in. This is our one chance to find out if it’ll work. Will you vote in favor?” Qi Yu handed her a pair of glasses. Staring at all that white for too long would strain her eyes.
“What if it doesn’t work? Then we’ll have nothing left!” Ju Baici was torn.

Cheng Yi took a wet wipe from the box on the wall and looked at the petite figure leaning against the elevator doors with her arms folded, lost in thought. In a good mood, he asked:
“Want me to wipe down the handrail for you?”
Bai Jingjing hadn’t expected him to speak nicely for once, but she was in a bad mood and didn’t feel like accepting his offer. She merely said coolly:
“No need. I have a thing about germs...”
“Oh!”
Cheng Yi promptly tossed the wipe into the trash.
“...” Bai Jingjing was furious. What an asshole, not even bothering to save face! How was she supposed to marry him like this?
She glared at his tall figure reflected in the elevator doors and threatened him:
“Director Cheng, you’re being so arrogant. I’m going to file a complaint!”

[4] Scene Two: The White Lotus Female Rival Comes to Pick a Fight
“Miss Bai, aren’t you curious about what happened between Cheng Yi and me?” Bai Qiyao pressed on.
“Assistant Shi, bring Miss Bai a chair too. Wouldn’t want her to throw her back out from running her mouth so much!”
Bai Jingjing stroked the kitten on her lap, looking disdainful. Inwardly, she scoffed, I couldn’t care less what happened between you!
[5] Scene Three:
Once they were in the bedroom, Cheng Yi laid Bai Jingjing down on the bed and started undoing his shirt buttons.
Bai Jingjing couldn’t believe it. She hadn’t even forgiven him yet!
She braced herself to sit up, but Cheng Yi used his shirt to tie her hands above her head.
“Cheng Yi! Don’t you dare! I haven’t forgiven you yet!”
“I know. That’s why I’m going to serve the young lady until she’s satisfied enough to forgive me!” Cheng Yi gently removed the hairpin from Bai Jingjing’s hair.
