Liandu is terribly unlucky.
He was born into the hugely popular superpower manga Mental Inversion.
In the manga, every member of the protagonist's group and every villain was cool, handsome, and powerful.
Every day, manga fans screamed on the forums:
The ships are so good, the author's worldbuilding is so profound, and the top-tier mind games and plot twists are so satisfying.
The characters in this manga were born with every advantage.
They should have been popular from the start and enjoyed countless spotlight moments in the manga.
...But Liandu was a cannon fodder character.
--
A cannon fodder NPC who appeared for less than two panels before being scared to death by the protagonist's superpower.
And the forum didn't care at all.
[Diehard fans] Who cares about some cannon fodder? Aaaaah, the author's only updates once a month! Can they draw more of my baby?!
[Plot fans] So superpowers really are dangerous. They said in the Xigu arc xxx that you can't expose them in front of ordinary people...
[Jokesters] Name: Liandu. Gender: Male. Role: Cannon fodder. Shelf life: One use.
Looking at the handful of floating comments in front of him, Liandu was shocked to realize after his death that he had really been written out just like that.
Then a line of text gradually appeared before him.
[Do you want to change all this?]
[Yes] [No]
With a trembling hand and a heart full of grief and indignation, he clicked Yes.
[Ding! Binding successful. The Cannon Fodder Simulator is delighted to serve you.]
You wake up.
Your name is Liandu.
Your identity is "human."
[Your stats]
Intelligence 5, Appearance 2, Strength 2, Level 1
In 3 minutes, you'll be forcibly scared to death by the protagonist's superpower.
Your ability: Create a disposable secret identity.
(Stats for the secret identity cannot exceed your total stats.) (Cooldown: 72 hours)
...The boy, whose face had been blurred by the plot, gritted his teeth and looked at the protagonist's group approaching him, glittering with dramatic lighting. He used all his strength to select the Create Secret Identity option.
[Intelligence 1, Appearance 6, Strength 2, Level 1]
Then Liandu controlled the sinister young man, so beautiful his face couldn't be blurred, as he picked up his own body from the ground and sneered.
"...Don't touch him."
...The startled protagonist's group slashed the secret identity.
The secret identity was about to die.
The timid Liandu shakily controlled his frail secret identity, whose Strength was only 2 and who could barely stand, trying to escape the scene. He kept shouting, "I'm not scared!" to work up his courage.
But in the manga fans' eyes...
Blood dripped from him and melted into the cold rain. His striking face looked almost bewitchingly tragic beneath his sickly pallor. The beautiful young man lowered his damp bangs and pressed them against the cheek of the trembling boy in his arms.
"I'm not scared."
The forum exploded.
[Looks fans] Where did this gorgeous, bewitching seductress come from?! Aaaaah!
[Ship fans] Author, please don't kill off such an adorable couple! Aaaaah!
[Plot fans] A new character!! Holy crap, does this mean there's a new storyline?
Liandu, a cannon fodder character who had managed to survive: ovo!
Shipping himself with his own secret identity... This might actually work?!
But at the same time, the protagonist's group stared at the beautiful image of two men embracing.
The blushing protagonists: "..."
Crazy guy, let go of that boy!
This is a shonen manga! Aaaaah!

[Before-you-read notes]
1. The main plot is about the steadily growing protagonist and the misunderstandings that arise as he ships himself with his own secret identities. (The secret identities may get carried away with imagining things.)
2. His relationships with the other manga characters will probably shift from friendship to a group-doting, family-like bond. (
3. The protagonist can control several secret identities at once, and they can appear simultaneously. There might be misunderstandings that lead to a chaotic love triangle. (You're really enjoying this act, huh?)
4. The protagonist is gentle and timid, not a macho protagonist or an invincible overpowered hero. Please go easy on him. orz
