A sharp-tongued girl who actually has an unusual train of thought and is great at acting cute as the gong vs. a strong, stoic, beautiful-but-tragic male general who is actually ruthless, vengeful, and a brazen, arrogant shou.
Want to date online? Across time and space!
An atypical insectoid novel with typical insectoid conventions, atypical transmigration, and typical tropes!!! (Emphasis!) Read the blurb and content warnings before you start.
Chu Yi was peacefully at home when something bizarre fell on him out of nowhere. He thought his house was haunted, but later learned that the thing that had hit him was a starbrain, an object from a different era and time-space.
The first time Chu Yi saw Jialan, he had silver hair and blue eyes. Chu Yi thought he was cosplaying a famous character from a manga, and marveled at how good makeup techniques had become, since it looked so natural. Only later did he learn that it was all natural.
At first, Chu Yi thought it was just online dating. Those relationships never lasted, and that was fine: they could just break up when the time came. But when he saw his partner suffering through a mental breakdown and injecting himself with what looked like an endless supply of medication, Chu Yi found himself wanting to go to the place he had always looked down on, because his love was suffering there.
Jialan was the youngest male general among the Imperial Light Zerg of the interstellar age. Before he met Chu Yi, he thought it would be fine to die on the battlefield from a mental breakdown and transformation into a Zerg. It would be glorious and honorable. But after meeting Chu Yi, he wished he could live a little longer, so he might be able to fulfill a promise he knew was impossible, yet couldn't stop hoping for.
The first time Jialan met Chu Yi, Chu Yi was just like every other male Zerg he had ever met: arrogant and overbearing. Only later did he discover that the other was a newly adult male Zerg who loved acting cute and making adorable little noises.
Jialan thought it was only online dating. The two of them would never meet in person in this lifetime, so he dared to say all kinds of outrageous things to the strange young male Zerg on the screen. And the young male Zerg would obediently agree to whatever he said. It was nice, but sadly he didn't have much time left. If only he could live a little longer. It would be fun to keep tricking the young male Zerg on the other side of the screen.
"Jialan, if those Zerg people of yours ever try to force you to get married or something, just tell them I'm your husband. No, tell them I'm your male spouse. Then nobody will force you anymore." Through what looked like a single blue screen, but was actually a distance of several centuries, Jialan looked at the young male Zerg on the other side. He knew the other was joking, yet unexpectedly took his words to heart.
Chu Yi, who dreamed of becoming a hulking man and taking on eight opponents at once, looked at his wife, who was taller and bigger than him, and fell silent. He had worked so hard to grow to 180 centimeters and build his abs.
Jialan thought of the young male Zerg who was always saying he wanted to be cherished and protected, but ended up curled in his arms, whining and acting cute because he didn't want to write a thesis. The little Zerg was still young, at the rebellious age.
Chu Yi and Jialan have some seriously thick family-member rose-colored glasses.
Chu Yi's view of Jialan: Uncle is a gentle, kind, handsome man with a slim waist and long legs who makes everyone feel safe.
In reality, Jialan kills without blinking on the battlefield and pays back anyone who crosses him a hundredfold.
Jialan's view of Chu Yi: Chu Yi is a thoughtful, imaginative, adorable, delicate newly adult male Zerg who needs protection.
In reality, for Jialan's sake, Chu Yi nearly blew up a military base and became number one on the list of male Zergs you really shouldn't mess with.
Neither the gong nor the shou is particularly nice, and the gong isn't weak either.
Online, the gong says whatever he likes, but in person he's surprisingly pure and inexperienced.
The military male Zerg shou looks abstinent, but is actually very flirtatious and says whatever he wants.
The gong follows the romance plotline, while the shou follows the main plotline.
The gong has a golden finger (kept secret for now to avoid spoilers).
I haven't seen anything similar on the rankings yet. If there is, any resemblance is purely coincidental.
Content warnings (the author's own): Zerg setting, many female Zerg and few male Zerg (an exaggerated ratio), 1v1 happy ending, gong is shorter, egg-laying (later on), shou is more than twenty years older than the gong, the gong calls the shou "Uncle" (often), they date online early on and don't meet in person for a while (gong is modern, shou is interstellar), readers who are extremely devoted to either the shou or the gong should proceed with caution.
The entire plot serves the protagonists. The protagonists are imperfect, imperfect, and the story is cheesy and awkward. Readers with high standards should proceed with caution.
The author is very protective of their favorite character and can't stand people insulting him. We can all get along, so if you don't like it, just move along. If you insult him, I'll be as helpless as a male Zerg.
I don't currently plan to write about gender equality. That may change depending on how the plot develops. The worldbuilding is entirely my own.
This is a fictional setting and has nothing to do with reality. Please don't apply it to real life.
The author is writing this for themselves.
Theme: A happy life is something you have to fight for yourself.
Why does it feel like the more I watch it, the more it looks like a suspense drama? I always hesitate to speak at certain plot points, leaving people watching in confusion.
Damn, you're stuck. Have you given up on this book? [Yes] [Yes] [Resolved]
Oh my god, the main character dies in modern times?!!
My phone is out of battery and I can't even borrow a power bank 🐶
0-0 Has the update started to resume? _(:з∠)_I will make up for it once it becomes stable again.
Has the baby started to update? [Spread flowers]
... What the hell description, that lamp is a precious energy source, can it only be used once? You have to roll the protagonist back and forth three or four times before you can open it! It's so miserable for the protagonist to have such a mother!
It's over, I accidentally fell into a pit 😭
Damn, have you stopped updating again? 🤔
It's been two weeks since you last came back. Where are you [covering face and laughing and crying] [covering face and laughing and crying] [covering face and laughing and crying]
