Lou Zhao was a commandery princess and the daughter of a distinguished military family. She had grown up with a silver spoon in her mouth, and almost everything in the capital had gone her way.
The only thing she couldn't stand was that their family had a sworn enemy: Pei Mu, the current chief minister.
When she learned she had suddenly been promised to him in marriage, Lou Zhao saw black. She packed her bags that very night and ran away from the wedding.
But an accident happened along the way. She hit her head, and when she woke up, she had lost her memory.
She had forgotten everything about Pei Mu. When she opened her eyes, all she saw was a rather handsome man who somehow seemed familiar, and who looked as if he had a lump of anger stuck in his chest.
Pei Mu's eyes briefly flashed with despondency, but his expression was hardly regretful. "You're my wife-to-be. You hit your head a few days ago, and for now you've forgotten everything."
Lou Zhao: ?
The two got along well enough after marriage, and Pei Mu treated her very well.
Though he had seemed a little cold and distant at first, he would agree to anything she asked with a stony face, except for a few overly demanding requests. As time passed, Pei Mu let her order him around as imperiously as she pleased.
Lou Zhao was very content with her life and even looked forward to what the future might bring.
Then one day, the blood clot in her brain cleared, and she suddenly remembered everything.
Thinking back on all the times she'd called Pei Mu "husband, husband" every day, Lou Zhao nearly fainted from sheer frustration.
After agonizing over it for seven days, Lou Zhao went to Pei Mu with a long sword and a divorce agreement. As she raised her hand, the blade slid from its sheath. "Let's divorce."
But Pei Mu calmly tore up the divorce agreement as if nothing had happened, and curled his lips into a smile. "What was that, my lady? I didn't quite hear you."

Male lead's perspective:
At first, Pei Mu had married Lou Zhao only because the situation left him no choice. He had planned to set three rules with her and agree to whatever conditions she proposed, as much as he could.
But before the wedding, he happened to see Lou Zhao running away. She nearly lost her life, and she also lost her memory, forgetting him completely.
So he went along with it and married her. Even if she wanted a divorce later, he would agree.
Then, during an outing, they were ambushed. In the chaos, Lou Zhao casually drew her sword and stepped in front of him, her "weak scholar" of a chief minister.
She moved with such authority, her sword flashing as she struck.
But he clearly saw that Lou Zhao was terrified too. As she cut down her attacker with trembling hands, she even secretly shed a tear.
He realized that his heart... seemed to have given a sudden thump.
