Qu Linwei is used to having the world at his beck and call. When has he ever endured such grievances? Gritting his teeth, he stamps his foot and runs to Shen Lanyin, lifting his pitiful, harmless little round face.

Shen Lanyin has lived alone for years and has never understood the ways of love between men and women. Naturally, he has no idea how one is supposed to care for a child. He only thinks this child seems especially fragile and clingy, gazing up at him with watery puppy eyes and often wanting to be fed, soothed, and held.

Is this just part of raising a child? Shen Lanyin is a little overwhelmed, but still draws on his limited patience to comfort and care for him.

Until later, in the Demon Cult's prison, the man pins him beneath himself, leaving him unable to move. Their heavy, intimate breaths mingle. The young man wipes the blood from the corner of his mouth and looks up gloomily. "We'll never settle our score, not in this lifetime."

The characters are not perfect. The protagonist is a great villain early on, love-struck in the middle, and faces a reckoning later. He has no moral compass for now.

A low-magic world with plenty of original worldbuilding.
