The thing Shen Huai regrets most in this life is not realizing his feelings sooner.
She met him when she was sixteen. They went from strangers to classmates to friends, but never became lovers. By the time he was ready to admit how he felt, they had already been out of touch for six months. It seemed they had never been apart for so long. For ten years, they supported each other, an academic duo of twin stars envied by everyone around them. Yet he kept to the clear boundaries of friendship and never understood the meaning behind her eyes.
Pei Yanzhi is a rising star in the tennis world and an ambitious entrepreneur. She showed outstanding talent for tennis as a teenager, and her family was determined to support her career as a player. Fate seemed especially generous to her: Along with her talent, it gave her an exceptional business sense. From the moment she met Shen Huai, she knew she liked him, but she didn’t dare confess recklessly. She knew his family background well and kept waiting until she was capable of protecting him. But before she could win a championship, injuries forced her to retire.
At their high school graduation party, she got drunk and secretly kissed him. She thought their relationship would end on a bittersweet note, but in college they met again in New York. She fought on the tennis court and battled in the business world. And for reasons she couldn’t understand, he chose a school close to hers. He let her invade his apartment and his life, and watched every one of her matches, yet he still refused to surrender the heart he had wrapped in layer upon layer of rules.
Then injuries forced her to retire, and the business empire she had built with her own hands came into direct conflict with his family’s interests. The once inseparable “comrades-in-arms” were pushed to opposite sides of the negotiating table.
After six months of cold war, he finally lost control for the first time. He stopped her in the rain, his eyes filled with a disheveled desperation she had never seen before. “Pei Zhiyan, my world has been out of control because of you for a long time.”
She simply raised a hand and firmly wiped the rain from his cheek, like polishing a treasured object she had finally obtained. She smiled boldly, perfectly clear-headed:
“Shen Huai, that’s exactly what I’ve been waiting for you to say.”
A story about a once restrained and aloof young gentleman finally understanding his own heart and taking up the kitchen ladle.
A long game that began with youthful affection.
[A decisive, controlling queen x an investor who will abandon every rule for her]
A gender-bender romance, with a female top and male bottom.
Both characters have typical biological anatomy.
There’s so little gender-bender fiction that I decided to write my own.
