A groveling romance: a heroine who's bad at being bad VS a scheming, cold male lead]
As a delicate flower, Yu Ruo's greatest goal was to find a husband who would indulge her in everything.
-- Her betrothed, Shen Yun, was refined and elegant, gentle and well-mannered, the very model of a young nobleman. Yu Ruo was quite pleased with him, but he kept rising in status and decided she wasn't good enough, so he called off their engagement.
Yu Ruo was so angry her teeth hurt. She turned to her childhood friend.
-- Her childhood friend, Gu Zhou, was carefree and dashing, reckless and unruly, the most spirited young man in the capital. Yu Ruo reluctantly settled for him, but Gu Zhou had a vicious tongue and mocked her for thinking a toad could eat swan meat.
Yu Ruo kicked him in the shin, gathered her skirt, and ran off to attend the crown prince's selection of a consort.
-- Crown Prince Yan Ling was aloof and arrogant, cold and distant, the coldest young man in the capital. Yu Ruo thought he was too cold, but at least he was handsome, so she decided he was the one. Later, however, he treated her as a substitute.
Yu Ruo was completely furious! Those awful men!
In a fit of anger, she set her sights on the supreme ruler in the palace.
The true imperial heir, the most magnificent and handsome man in the land.
But when she threw herself into His Majesty's arms, those awful men came crawling back to her.
Delicate flower Yu Ruo's response: Get lost. Don't block my path to riches.
A little extra
At the crown princess selection ceremony, Yu Ruo was late.
Yan Ling's expression darkened, while Gu Zhou and Shen Yun looked delighted. The three of them went to the imperial garden to find Yu Ruo, determined to make her choose one of them.
In a pavilion in the imperial garden...
The supreme ruler of the land, who never let his emotions show, was crouching on the ground with a delicate little embroidered shoe decorated with begonias cupped in his broad palm.
Usually so cold-faced, he now coaxed Yu Ruo with gentle words and infinite patience as she swung her feet and refused to put on her shoe.
The three men were stunned. When the man's gaze landed on them, full of warning, they trembled and could only kneel where they stood, watching helplessly as he picked Yu Ruo up.
A gentle breeze stirred, carrying Yu Ruo's cheerful chatter and the man's patient replies.
The three men were left behind, utterly shocked.
Reader's notes:
1. Mature, steady older man VS a spoiled, delicate heroine who does whatever she wants
2. Both leads are virgins
3. The crown prince is not the male lead's biological son. This will be explained in the story.
Theme: Love yourself
I feel that the ending is a bit rushed, the plot is not included in the copywriting, there are many typos and wrong names, and some of the lines are a bit embarrassing... Don't be in a hurry to finish it, even if it takes longer, just write it carefully...
