[Still an unofficial blurb. The core premise is unchanged, and I'll keep refining it.]
Xu Jin Zhao's younger brother ran away from his wedding. Outside his brother's room, Xu Jin Zhao ran into the groom, Si Lin.
Si Lin, the young marquis, and the second son of the Xu family had grown up together and were in love. To spend his life with the man he loved, the young marquis had his leg broken by his father and begged for three years before his father finally sent a proposal.
But instead of marrying the person he loved, he ended up with a face that looked just like his.
Si Lin warned him to remember his place as a substitute.
Xu Jin Zhao took the warning seriously. In the main hall, he and Si Lin treated each other with decorous courtesy. Once the door to their room closed, they were swept up in passion. Otherwise, they were strangers. He played the substitute to perfection, leaving not the slightest room for complaint.
But Si Lin soon became dissatisfied, and his demands kept piling up, each with a seemingly sound justification:
He wasn't allowed to get injured without reporting it, because the injury might affect that face that looked like his.
He wasn't allowed to lock his door when he was in a bad mood, because it was the young marquis's room, and the young marquis hadn't moved in yet.
He wasn't allowed to chat with his fellow townsman, the young general, because he spoke to him more than he did to the young marquis, and people might get the wrong idea.
There was no end to these outrageous demands. He was being completely unreasonable.
Xu Jin Zhao went to great lengths to find his younger brother and packed his things, ready to give up his place. Si Lin looked even more furious than when he'd been jilted at the altar. He stopped Xu Jin Zhao and added yet another demand:
He wasn't allowed to leave the marquis's residence, because Si Lin would never sign the divorce papers.
