He Yuqing always carried a packet of strawberry candies in her backpack. Her friends were always puzzled: why did someone who barely ate sweets keep a packet of candy with her wherever she went?
No one knew that the candies were He Yuqing's youth.
The story began when He Yuqing gave Lu Songfeng a strawberry hard candy. "Hey, have a candy."
At the end of the story, there would always be one strawberry candy in He Yuqing's backpack that she couldn't give away.
In her sophomore year, He Yuqing wanted to give her youth a perfect ending, so she began writing A Strawberry Candy for You.
In the afterword of the first edition of A Strawberry Candy for You, He Yuqing wrote: "It's a shame I'm not Lian Xin. I'll never be able to give away the strawberry candy in my bag."
Ten years later, when A Strawberry Candy for You was reprinted, He Yuqing updated the afterword: "At the end of the story, just like Lian Xin, I had a little one to give the strawberry candy in my bag to."
The little one munching on a strawberry candy was sitting beside He Yuqing, keeping her company as she watched a rather dull documentary.
What He Yuqing didn't know was that the little one had just posted a new Weibo update.
"My new album, Sunny and Rainy Collection, will be released on September 9. Looking forward to seeing you there."
