The life of Yuli, a mountain spirit, was full of hardships. In the first half of his life, he was trapped on Biying Mountain and couldn't take a single step beyond it. In the second half, he finally got out, only to die soon afterward and become an evil spirit.
Fortunately, Heaven took pity on him and didn't let him stay unlucky forever.
After he died, Yuli arrived in Fengdu. For the first hundred years, he did all sorts of hard, exhausting work. Then he found a job that wasn't good, but wasn't bad either, and his life slowly improved.
There was a Chicken-Crowing Alley at the border between the mortal realm and Fengdu. He worked diligently as its alley master, and another two hundred years passed in a flash.
Demonic creatures stirred. Chang Jing, the Great White Star Lord, was ordered to eradicate them and defend the Way. His journey took him to Chicken-Crowing Alley, where he met Yuli again.
The more Chang Jing looked at him, the more Yuli reminded him of the young spirit he had met in a mist-shrouded mountain in his youth. So Chang Jing tried a roundabout approach, then came straight out with it, determined to pull off Yuli's mask.
To Yuli, Chang Jing was the only beam of light in the first half of his life, one he could never hold on to or keep.
But none of that matters for now!
The most important thing is not to let Chang Jing find out!!!
Later, peace came to the land and the seas.
Chang Jing often brought up how Yuli had pretended not to know him when they met again.
Chang Jing muttered, "I woke up this morning and you were gone again."
Yuli blushed. "That's because you always fall asleep in the middle of it!"
Chang Jing put on a wounded expression. "When we met again back then, you kept hiding the truth from me for so long. It still hurts when I think about it."
Yuli covered his mouth. "Just be quiet. I'll do whatever you say, so stop bringing it up."
Note:
1. A fictional cultivation setting, with an episodic structure, one-on-one romance, both characters are each other's first, happy ending.
2. I write slowly, but I promise not to abandon the story!
3. I've rewritten the blurb several times, and I've finally accepted that I'm terrible at writing them. I'm tired. This will do.
Theme: Be brave and stay steadfast.
