As the lowliest servant on Wulie Immortal Mountain, Shan Ran had only ever wanted to save enough for her retirement, then return to the mortal world and enjoy a few carefree years.
Who could have guessed that, after the battle between immortals and demons, the sect would suddenly hand her a blind man on the verge of death? They promised her an immortal marrow suitable for cultivation if she served him until he "died peacefully" within a month.
Shan Ran was used to slaughtering chickens and fish, but forcing someone to die was a first for her.
The trouble was, this man was devilishly hard to kill.
Over the past half month, Shan Ran's efforts had included, among other things: pushing the blind man in his wheelchair to stroll along a desolate cliff's edge, making him cool off in the snow in nothing but his underclothes in the middle of the night, and accidentally replacing the matsutake mushrooms in his restorative chicken soup with poisonous ones...
After enduring all that, the blind man was on death's door, yet never once complained.
"Thank you, young lady, for taking such devoted care of me all these days. I, Jin, own nothing of value, save for a little property in the mortal world. After I die, I would like to give it all to you."
His words were so heartfelt they could bring anyone to tears.
Faced with an ailing immortal lord who repaid cruelty with kindness, Shan Ran's conscience was finally stirred. She packed up her belongings in the middle of the night, slung him over her back, and stumbled down the mountain to find the property he'd mentioned.
But as they spent time together in the mortal world, Shan Ran gradually discovered that the immortal lord was nothing like the gentle and benevolent man she'd imagined. In fact, he was a vindictive lunatic.
In the dead of night, his cane blocked the path Shan Ran had taken to flee through the door. His thin lips curled upward like a red plum blossoming in the snow.
"Didn't we agree that you'd take care of me for the rest of our lives? Do you intend to break your promise, Shan Ran?" He lifted a hand and tugged on the puppet strings. Her leg bones snapped at once.
He happily crouched down and used spider silk to bind Shan Ran, still cursing furiously, securely to his back. "This way, you'll be my eyes, and I'll be your hands and feet. We'll be tangled together forever, never to part."
A worldly, coarse mortal woman vs. an immortal lord who's gentle on the surface but a lovesick maniac underneath.
Content warnings: 1. The heroine is genuinely uncouth and swears like a sailor. 2. The hero is inhuman. Both are virgins. According to unofficial histories, the hero bears the heroine a child. This is the author's stress-relief project, a short story.

Baby, this piece seems to be frightened and tied to the male protagonist's back as mentioned earlier.
Is it a dream or is it really going back in time?
