While wandering through a dream, Mukuro Rokudo saw Chuuya Nakahara, another test subject like himself, and kept watching him.
Once Chuuya became conscious, Mukuro immediately entered his dream. (Chuuya has no dreams, but Mukuro is a bug.) He got Chuuya to sign a contract with him, and Chuuya, still a newborn blank slate, innocently agreed.
Main-world Mukuro Rokudo, during the Future Arc.
Since he was the only one who hadn't gone to the future and Tsuna and the others were nowhere to be seen, he found himself something to do.
Because of Mukuro, Chuuya never joined the Sheep. Mukuro told him from the start that he was a test subject, and the memory-sharing bug let Chuuya see himself floating in a tank of nutrient solution. He gradually came to understand his situation.
He even knew that his birth was the result of Rimbaud and Verlaine.
Then, to keep France from sending more people after him, Chuuya left Yokohama and went to Namimori's Kokuyo.
Not long afterward, the Future Arc ended, and Mukuro received memories from ten years in the future.

Not long after that, Dazai Osamu, who had received memories from the book, went to find Chuuya but couldn't find him.
