Yu Zhao was a famous child prodigy throughout the surrounding villages from a young age. He had all the usual makings of a prodigy.

But by the time he was well into his teens, he still hadn't even passed the county-level civil service exam.

Mainly because he had never actually taken it.

As the doubts around him grew, Yu Zhao decided to go take the exam on a whim.

Then he kept passing, all the way to the capital, where he became the top graduate.

Yu Zhao (sarcastically): What's so hard about this? It was so easy~

Everyone else: clutching their faces and chests, spitting blood, dead.

After placing first in the exams, Yu Zhao served as an official for a few days. Then the emperor died, and a new emperor took the throne. Taking advantage of the upheaval, Yu Zhao resigned, slung a small cloth bag over his shoulder, and headed home to enjoy himself.

He left without a care, completely unaware of how mournfully the former crown prince, now the new emperor, gazed toward his little mountain village.

After all that effort to win him over, he had gone and run away again.
