The System Says I Chose the Wrong Target

My next novel is My Wife, Who Died Five Years Ago, Has Returned. Check it out in my collection. Gu Yan never imagined that a telecom scam would not only wipe out all her savings but also make her so furious that she fainted and transmigrated to ancient times. Even more absurdly, she becomes the youngest daughter of the Gu family, who treat her like trash, and the cousin of Xie Mingtang, the deposed Crown Princess. She even gets bound to a snarky System that only comes up with terrible ideas. The Cold Palace is in ruins, and her deposed Crown Princess cousin is on the verge of death. The System's mission, however, is simple and blunt: Win her over, make her fall in love with you, and help her reclaim the throne. Then you can go home and save your money! There's no blanket in the Cold Palace, so Gu Yan asks the System for help: Get her a blanket. She's going to freeze to death. The System exclaims excitedly: [Go kiss her. Kiss her, embrace her, and warm her with your love. Let her feel the power of love in the Cold Palace!] Gu Yan: What do you think I am, a mop? Am I supposed to drag myself all over her? Xie Mingtang has a fever, so Gu Yan asks the System for help: Give me some ibuprofen. The System comes up with another bad idea: [We don't have any. You can use your body to cool her down. Your body is better than any cold medicine!] Later, the Crown Princess regains her power and defeats her enemies. Just as Gu Yan is about to finish her mission and leave, the System lets out a helpless shriek: [Aaaaaah! Host, you pursued the wrong person! You were supposed to pursue her younger sister.] Gu Yan: So... what do I do? Kiss her, embrace her? The System panics: [Fake your death. I'll arrange a new body for you, and you can start over. You've got experience now. If you start again, you can let her feel your love. Yanyan, I believe in you.] Gu Yan: Screw you, you mouthy System. If I listen to you again, I'm a pig. After the Empress Xie Mingtang ascends the throne, she never takes an empress. Rumors say she once had a beloved who stayed by her through the difficult days in the Cold Palace. When she finally seized power, that beloved passed away tragically. Xie Mingtang refuses to take an empress until the day she dies. The court is in an uproar, and she notices a young woman in the crowd. The bracelet on the young woman's wrist is identical to the one her beloved used to wear. She's back... Just as the young woman is about to pursue another woman, Xie Mingtang has her dragged back to the palace. Chained up... Pinned down on the bed and given a beating... Finally, under Xie Mingtang's threat, the young woman writes a tearful guarantee: From this day on, I will pursue no one but Xie Mingtang. *Updated daily at 6 p.m. No missed updates!
