In an era of peace, the ruling powers and the great clans have long been at odds. The authorities intend to join forces with traitors from the Yin Clan to weaken the great clans, bringing misery to innocent commoners and the souls of the dead in the underworld. Jiang Su, a guide from the Yin Clan, is tasked by the City God with handling the matter.

The Yin Clan does not involve itself in court politics. Its members accept mysterious commissions to escort the dead back to their hometowns. These mysterious people are known as "guides."

When Jiang Su first takes a commission as a guide, she encounters Xie Min, who has been kept under confinement. As the seasons pass, she comes to pity Xie Min, who is innocent yet burdened with guilt.

To save Xie Min, Jiang Su makes a deal with the City God: match those who have earned merit but died young with a value of completeness, and extend their lives for five years. Xie Min recovers, but loses his memory. Knowing the weight of her duties, Jiang Su takes this chance to leave.

When they meet again, the two work together. Jiang Su makes no effort to distance herself from Xie Min, but neither does she reveal that they were once intimate. Yet strange, uncanny incidents, hidden hostile forces, and Xie Min all become entangled with her.

Xie Min is a man of refined elegance and immense learning. He bears the sins of his family, confined to cultivate alone and endure agony that gnaws at his bones. Perhaps Heaven, in its mercy, has given him a lifesaving remedy, or perhaps a sweet treat from a jar of honey.

The listless young Master Xie falls in love. This person becomes his obsession, his selfish desire, his unspeakable secret.

After regaining his memories, Xie Min holds Jiang Su tightly around the waist, trapping her on his lap. His beautiful face tilts down as he fixes his eyes on the bite marks on her lips.

Desire floods his eyes. He leans down and murmurs coaxingly in Jiang Su's ear, "I have long been yours, and I am your husband, too."

Leaning against Xie Min's shoulder, Jiang Su's lovely face flushes as her hair tangles with his.

She raises an arm that hangs limply, gasping as she reaches for the hand at her waist. But before she can do more than grab at it, he pins her by the neck and kisses her hard, the kiss full of possessive intent.

Amid their embrace, she remembers why Xie Min is so fierce today. When someone with no connection to them asked about Xie Min, all she said was, "A friend." If she had known he was watching nearby, she never would have said that.

There are countless shadows in this world. The guilty live with reckless abandon, but there are always people who bring light. If I have the power, then I will decide the punishment.

1. Both leads are each other's only one. Serious drama, strong leads, connected uncanny incidents, and a satisfying power fantasy. The main story has a few flashbacks, but not many. The heroine's identity is very unusual and will be revealed later.

2. The heroine is older than the hero. She is just, but not saintly, and has a slight harem-protagonist quality. People of both sexes admire and look up to her, but it isn't romantic: they simply admire the strong.

3. The heroine will leave on commissions, and later the hero will want to keep her locked up at all times. Please avoid this if it bothers you.
