Blurb:
A deranged, possessive princess versus a powerful regent
In the capital, there was a betrothed couple of noble status. The woman was Shunping Princess Ren Jialan. At the age of twelve, she entered a temple to pray for the souls of her deceased parents. When she returned to the capital four years later, she wore white and Buddhist prayer beads around her wrist, appearing gentle and tender. Her betrothed, Chen Chao, was entirely different. He became regent as soon as he came of age, helped the young emperor ascend the throne, and stained his hands with the blood of countless people to secure the throne and imperial power.
When Shunping Princess returned to the capital, the regent honored their betrothal and married her. His new wife, who had spent years reciting sutras and praying for blessings, was kind and gentle to everyone, the very picture of goodness. He had controlled the court for years, and whenever he returned home with blood on him, he would bathe and burn incense before daring to enter her room. He did not want even a trace of filth to come near her.
Yet no matter how often he bathed and burned incense, he could always smell blood lingering around his wife. He did not understand why, until his cousin came to live in the manor.
His cousin was audacious enough to drug him. He was caught off guard and fell under its effects. When he came to, he saw his cousin in a disheveled state, while his wife still wore that gentle expression. Smiling at him, she said:
“Husband, your cousin was naughty. Would you like me to kill her to make you feel better?”
P.S.
The female lead is not kind-hearted. Please don't read if that bothers you.
This novel has no catfighting between women and no inner-household infighting. The cousin is a good cousin too.
Theme: At the very least, be true to yourself
I was completely disappointed with the Jinjiang Gold List. I was looking around everywhere and found gold in the shit. I was so touched. The copywriting attracted me from the beginning, with a hint of Mr. And Mrs. Smith (I've always been into this genre, who knows), and I couldn't stop reading it. The author's views are normal and the setting attracts me, so I usually give it a try. I really eat a lot of shit in Jinjiang. As long as the content of the article is smooth and the writing is not a big problem, I will continue to read it. If there are unconventional and charming female characters, I will dote on them. (The plot will be covered later) This book really gave me many surprises beyond my expectations. The plot line is very coherent. The pace in the early stage is relatively slow, but it lays a lot of foreshadowing. The foreshadowing in the later stage is also well recycled. The interests of the court are involved, and the emotional entanglements of the characters are all explained. It's a pity that I'm still fantasizing about Lan Jia using a knife to solve his obsession. However, there are many twists and turns after the death of King An, which is really exciting and I like it very much. I think the little emperor's death was a bit hasty, but I don't accept Lan Jia letting go of everything easily. Maybe this is a good arrangement. I am already the princess's dream girl. I want to be her friend, her mother, and her daughter. She is gentle and elegant because she doesn't care. What she really wants in her heart is her paranoia. Lan Jia was truly compassionate towards the innocent people, caring and protective of those around her, and doing her best to be considerate. I like how decisive she is in killing and how clear rewards and punishments are. Starting from the part where Guan Nan left, the princess and Guan Hai said, they don't want me, what if Chen Chao doesn't want me either, I like the yandere feeling shown by the princess so much, I have no doubt that she will kill Chen Chao, this kind of possessiveness and love is exactly what I want to see. There was also the burning of the Taiwei's mansion and the subsequent confrontation. The two people's positions were once again at odds. The princess's tough methods and firm stance really moved my heart. The death of her parents put her in a situation where she couldn't help but hate. Revenge was her motivation, and Chen Chao was a candlelight. But Lan Jia is used to being in darkness, and the candlelight will not affect her determination for revenge. It would be good if she could hold this ray of light, but if the candlelight stings her eyes, she will extinguish it with her own hands without hesitation. "Love" is just her embellishment, not her bondage. The wind and waves swept her up and held her for most of her life. Some people were committing crimes and some were trying to atone for their sins, but in fact no one cared about what Lan Jia really wanted. They could only lament that fate was playing tricks on people. Maybe Ren Lanjia had been depressed and had the idea of getting over it, but in the face of every storm, she could also stir up the storm. I can not want it, but you have to give it. The courage shown in the scene where she sat on the dragon throne made me love her even more. Sometimes I think about the if line where the princess and the prince-in-law did not die. Lan Jia was supposed to be the most outspoken girl in the world. She was synonymous with all the beautiful things in the world. Falling in love with Lan Jia was so easy. In fact, I have always been worried that Lan Jia will be trapped, swallow her anger, and compromise easily after having children. Fortunately, she did not. She can also plan clearly and make decisions calmly in relationships. The pull between the Queen Mother, the Prince Regent, and the Princess is so exciting. Different positions lead to different behaviors, which lead to different choices. This is the best part in my opinion. The Queen Mother is also a person who has a lot of appointments. She married into the royal family because of love or something else. She was constantly polished in the palace. Faced with the responsibilities of various identities, she finally chose to be a good mother. The forbearance and bitterness in it are not something that others can easily understand. Including Furong, Lan Zhao, Guan Xin, these women who do not meet the "ordinary standards" are no longer footnotes, but also have their own page. These lively and vivid women are what I want to see when reading novels. They are not preaching about "big heroines", but I simply like this kind of female-oriented narrative. Overall, this novel is very in line with my taste. I will even recall those wonderful moments from time to time in the future. I hope this book can be read by more people. I also look forward to the subsequent extras, some if lines, and a happy ending! [Spread flowers][sprinkle flowers][sprinkle flowers]
