Recommending my upcoming sweet romance, the censor bottom x emperor top: "The Little Censor Is in the Emperor's Favor"
[Writing is hard. Thanks for supporting the official release.]
Kost, a demon king with severe insomnia, can't understand why, after finally managing to sleep in his previous life, he woke up to an assassination attempt.
The peace-loving, kindhearted Demon King didn't kill the adventurers. He merely knocked them all unconscious. But in the next second, a mysterious force erupted behind him. Before he could even see his killer's face, he died beneath a sword.
Demon King: Fine, fine. So this is how you're playing it?
Back with a swagger, the great Demon King is reborn.
He recognizes his enemy from the previous life by that sword. Before he can think of a solution, the other man comes right to him and asks, "Hello. Is this yours?"
The silver-haired man has washed the blood away. Handsome and elegant, he smiles gently, like a heap of freshly melted snow.
In his palm rests the pendant Kost dropped during the fight. An owl stands atop a green gemstone, wrapped in a thorny thicket. The side of the gem is delicately engraved with the Demon King's baptismal name: Lusail.
Accustomed to rough demons, Kost has never met such a gentle, gorgeous man before. His brain stalls for a few seconds before he manages to respond, coldly (blushing) and arrogantly (heart pounding): "Yes."
"Lusail? What a lovely name."
Demon King: ?!!!
His cheeks burn. "Furious" with embarrassment, he turns red: Foolish, insolent human! How dare you call me by my baptismal name!
P.S. A baptismal name is used only between intimate companions.
Many years later
While reminiscing about his adventures with a friend, Kost happens to find a diary in the basement. More accurately, it seems to be a record with no dates.
The elegant handwriting gradually grows twisted and messy, and the contents shock him more and more as he reads. He doesn't even notice an arm suddenly slipping around his chest and pulling him into an embrace, or the warm breath at his ear: "My Lusail, what are you reading?"
Demon King: Help, what do I do when my human queen seems more like a demon than I do?
The human hero bears a curse, then finally kneels before the demon, pouring out endless words of love.
Content warning: A writing exercise, a mishmash of settings from Western fantasy, and lots of mistakes. Apologies in advance.
Please add my upcoming novel to your collection!
Before Jian Di died of brain cancer, he bound himself to a System and transmigrated into the nonexistent historical Great Yong Dynasty, becoming a junior censor in the Censorate.
Remembering the censors in the history books who would bash their heads against pillars to remonstrate or speak up only to be beheaded by tyrants, Jian Di touches his own little forehead with concern. Smooth, soft, and springy.
He's not doing that!
Isn't it better to live comfortably and enjoy doing nothing?
Jian Di wants to stay out of trouble, but in a corrupt world, being blameless is itself a crime.
He merely talks to a military officer friend and drinks with him a few times, and they accuse him of "forming a faction and plotting rebellion."
He temporarily takes in some women in distress and gives them a place to stay, and they accuse him of "improper conduct and a lack of virtue."
Rumors even spread that he's been unmarried for so long because he's impotent.
That last one makes Jian Di laugh in anger!
Fine, you want to mess with me?
From then on, another kind of "upright official" emerges among the censors who pride themselves on being incorruptible.
Today, Jian Di hears that someone's son got into a fight while visiting a brothel, so he reports the man for failing to discipline his household. Tomorrow, he sees someone accept two taels of silver and reports him for taking bribes.
You want to submit impeachments?
Bring it on! Half the memorials piled up on the emperor's desk are mine!
Even more strangely, every person he reports gets arrested. Everyone privately says he is in the emperor's favor and enjoys great imperial grace.
Later, even the Censor-in-Chief, his immediate superior, dares not cross him. Jian Di has practically become the head of the Censorate.
How strange. The emperor's heart is hard to fathom, so how did Jian Di win his favor?
One day, Jian Di is summoned to a private audience with the emperor yet again.
The emperor sits upright on his throne, his voice sonorous as metal and stone:
"My dear subject, you labor tirelessly day and night and fulfill your duties conscientiously. I am greatly pleased. However, your writing is not always entirely fair. Why don't I point you toward a better path?"
Jian Di blushes, realizing the emperor is hinting that his writing is poor.
Well, even the God of Literature couldn't write well about some old, long-forgotten scandals~
He puts on a respectful air and immediately starts laying on the flattery: "Receiving Your Majesty's guidance is an honor I could only hope for in three lifetimes. My gratitude flows like the mighty river, endlessly..."
"Wouldn't it be faster to come to my bed and whisper in my ear?"
Jian Di: Huh?!
"And at Lord Xu's home, last night he secretly, behind his wife's back... Ah-ha."
"Mm. Go on. I'm listening."
Jian Di grits his teeth and looks at the culprit:
"Your Majesty, where are your hands going?"
