Pure Love

*A second-generation story in the "Tears Bridge" series: Tan Shuchun x Yu Chengyi

Pretend playboy & genuinely innocent | Sharp-tongued rich heir & willful young lady

Childhood sweethearts | Bickering couple | One-sided love, with him taking an unusual route to win her back

Everyone in the capital knew that Tan Shuchun, the Tan family's little princess, was Yu Chengyi's most treasured person. It was only a matter of time before the Tan and Yu families became in-laws. But the little princess herself never took it seriously.

When they were children, she followed Yu Chengyi around and thought of him as a great hero. But once she started school, she fell for someone else. Worse, she brazenly called that other man "big brother" right in front of Yu Chengyi every day.

Yu Chengyi was a little disappointed and hurt, but he assumed she was still young and hadn't made up her mind. All he thought about was the promise they had made to study together across the ocean.

Who could have guessed that he would wait year after year in America, growing more and more impatient, only to hear that Tan Shuchun had flown to Germany to pursue the man she loved?

Furious, he caught a flight that very night and showed up to confront her, only to get this answer: "Wherever Brother Zhixu is, of course that's where I'll be!"

That night, Yu Chengyi got drunk on the streets of Berlin. From then on, he resolved to go his separate way from her.

For four whole years after that, he never saw her once again, or even exchanged a single word with her.

In the bustling heart of the capital, the top floor of the glittering Ritz Hotel was filled with noise and excitement. Everyone in their circle had gathered to celebrate Tan Shuchun's return after completing her studies.

The charming young woman stood at the center of the crowd in a fitted little dress, the focus of everyone's attention. She raised a champagne glass and chatted happily with her girlfriends.

Halfway through the drinks, Tan Shuchun was a little tipsy. Through the crowd, she thought she saw a familiar figure. At first, she thought her eyes were playing tricks on her. Then everyone tactfully stepped aside, and the familiar figure walked straight toward her.

"Congratulations on completing your studies and coming home, Second Miss."

After four years, Yu Chengyi had finally appeared again. He stood before her, as suave and charming as ever, smiling at the corners of his eyes as he congratulated her. The difference from four years ago was that a beautiful woman now stood at his side.

For an instant, Tan Shuchun's heart skipped a beat. She stared at the two of them, stunned. Then she came to her senses, ignored the drink Yu Chengyi offered to clink with hers, and gave him a mocking smile, deliberately needling him.

"Young Master Yu is such a busy and important person these days. You shouldn't have bothered coming all the way to my little gathering."

Self-respect often drags people along, making love take the long way around.

#Yi is pronounced with the first tone.
