Chen Yin has three important men in her life.
The first is her father.
Her mother died when she was young, and her father raised her on his own until she was sixteen.
She learned martial arts from him, traveled with him to the frontier, and guarded that boundless desert.
Beneath the full moon over the desert, she stood shoulder to shoulder with her father, hoping for a safe and peaceful life, and that she could stay by his side and care for him.
But everything came to an abrupt end when others framed them.
And so Chen Yin met the second important man in her life.
The crown prince, Jiang Weichen.
As her family was executed and she was sent into exile, Chen Yin first saw him in a dark prison.
He was born to wealth and status, untouched by the mundane world. He offered Chen Yin the only lifeline she had, saying:
"Come to my side. Be my blade."
To take revenge, Chen Yin grasped his hand.
And so Chen Yin took on a new identity: the crown prince's personal guard.
Together, they weathered danger and maneuvered through a court rife with schemes and intrigue, taking one bloody step after another.
Yet they also mistrusted each other, pressing on each other's wounds and striking back and forth, trying to suppress the feelings quietly taking root in their hearts.
Sincerity? How could it ever compare to power?
In the end, an alliance between supposed friends amounted to nothing more than discarding the bow once the birds were gone.
The crown prince's wedding was celebrated throughout the land.
And Chen Yin met the third important man in her life.
The boy she had once saved on the battlefield had grown into a spirited young general.
No one knew he had been one of the children her father took in, her younger brother.
Now he was willing to defy his own desires and remain Chen Yin's younger brother, the only family she had in this world.
He was willing to follow Chen Yin forever, spending his whole life at her side and becoming the sharp blade she wielded against the world.
"Yinyin, listen to me. Don't look back."
"A-Yin, I want us to fight to the death."
"Sister, keep me. Use me. Don't abandon me."
"My name is Chen Yin. Yin, as in cause and effect."
