When Ling Yu woke up, she had transmigrated from the new apartment she'd just bought to an unknown village in an unknown dynasty.
After spending three days in a daze, she took stock of her situation and decided to follow the golden rule of transmigration: accept what comes and make the best of it. She accepted her new identity as A Xiu of Xinghua Village.
After asking around, she learned that her birth parents lived in town. When A Xiu was born, they thought she was a worthless girl and wanted to abandon her. Her maternal grandmother couldn't bear to let that happen, so she brought A Xiu back to Xinghua Village and raised her.
She glanced at the house, where the rain leaked both indoors and out, and thought about finding a way to improve their meals. But on her first day in the mountains, she found a little kid in a pitfall trap.
The kid barely came up to her shoulder, but his gaze was unusually sharp. She hadn't intended to get involved, but her heart softened, and she brought him home and named him Xue Du.
And so she found herself with a leaky house, an elderly grandmother, a scrawny kid, and her own battered self...
No matter. They were all small problems.
She rolled up her sleeves and got to work, clearing land and tilling fields, fishing and weaving. She not only cured her grandmother's chronic illness, but also sent the little kid to school.
Life was getting better by the day, and the little kid had grown into a handsome young man. Then her birth parents showed up, making repeated attempts to ingratiate themselves with her. Ling Yu wasn't having any of it and sent them all packing.
She just couldn't figure out why the little kid was looking at her more and more strangely...
