The Words Kenma Can’t Quite Say

On my first day of ninth grade, I got a System calling itself the “Iconic Scene Livestream.”

Apparently, it gained energy by issuing tasks to its Host and having them check in at all kinds of iconic scenes.

...What a weirdo.

[Thanks to multiverse connectivity technology, more than ten billion viewers are watching you, Host, check in at iconic scenes through the livestream.]

...That's a lot of weirdos.

I had a feeling this wasn't going to work out. The System acted like we'd known each other forever and issued a task right away:

[Please complete today's check-in task: Go to Makinodai Park, get hit by the ball during the singles match between Atobe and Tezuka, and take a group photo of the three of you.]

No way. Who wants to get hit by a tennis ball for no reason? I might get a concussion.

[After completing the check-in, you will randomly receive one of the following rewards:

1. 50 million yen in cash: 30% probability;

2. A home worth 10 billion yen: 0.005% probability;

3. A 30% boost to your strength, agility, and jumping ability: 58.995% probability;

4. The affection of anyone present: 11% probability.]

I gritted my teeth and went for it.

I went to school with panda eyes. My deskmate, Kenma, looked like he wanted to say something but couldn't. I looked at him and felt exactly the same.

The System shrieked: [I-Iconic scene! “Kenma Wants to Say Something but Can't”!!]

...What a weirdo.

My hand froze.

Wait.

How could Kenma Wants to Say Something but Can't be an iconic scene???

*

The weirdo System has a special knack for identifying people you should stay away from.

I've figured out the pattern. If someone can create an iconic scene all by themselves, stay away from them.

Though my deskmate Kenma has some complaints about that, I can't worry about that now!

I told him I wanted to be an ordinary person, the rarest thing in the world.

The next day, I got a new task from the System.

[Please complete today's check-in task: Go to Karasuno Town in Miyagi Prefecture. At the moment Kenma and Hinata first meet, take the game console and help Kenma beat the Horse-Head Teacher, then take a group photo of the three of you.]

I became a weirdo.

But who says there's no one in the world who might happen to like a weirdo?

*There will be lots of iconic-scene check-ins, but my girl will turn them all into a complete mess! Please dig in while it's still hot!

Theme: Everyone will have a chance to shine.
