Roguishly handsome x gentle
Wolf and rabbit / five-year age gap / childhood sweethearts who grow up together
1. In Beicheng, Wen Cheng was the pampered only son of the Wen family, always arrogant and used to doing whatever he pleased.
By contrast, Ruan Shi was well-mannered, quiet, and sweet.
Even though they grew up under the same roof, no one ever thought to link the two of them together.
Little did anyone know that behind the scenes, Wen Cheng carried a thermos that didn't suit his status and patiently chased Ruan Shi all over Beicheng.
"Hurry up and drink your brown sugar water."
"My cramps aren't what hurts!" The usually gentle girl tugged at him up ahead, her temper flaring as she acted like a huffy little cat.
Wen Cheng could do nothing about her, so he followed behind, meekly placating her.
"Fine, fine. I'll be gentler next time."
2. The two fell passionately in love, but their relationship quietly came to an end after college.
Four years after their breakup, the Wen family's business was thriving. Wen Cheng was a wealthy, sought-after young master, while Ruan Shi danced at a bar, earning just enough to scrape by.
And yet, they ran into each other at precisely this moment.
Surrounded by people, Wen Cheng exuded a roguish air. His long fingers loosely held the rim of his glass as he leisurely savored the fine wine, never sparing an outward glance.
Egged on by the crowd, Ruan Shi sang two songs, then fled in a panic.
His friends looked at one another. "Brother Cheng, even Ruan Ruan won't pay you any attention now?"
That night, Wen Cheng drank himself senseless. The faint smile at the corner of his mouth looked more like self-mockery.
"It's my fault. I spoiled her."
She had once been a dewy white gardenia, but he'd spoiled her until she became a wild rose covered in thorns.
[Bonus scene]
Ruan Shi joined a dance troupe and went to group dinners and team events every day. Someone decided she was staying out all night.
After spending several nights alone at home, Wen Cheng took his car keys and headed out. He ran straight into his girl, laughing and chatting with the young men from the dance troupe.
Wen Cheng leaned languidly against the car door, an unlit cigarette held between two fingers, one hand resting lightly on the back of her neck.
"Looks like you still aren't tired enough."
Ruan Shi smiled sweetly and was just about to placate him when she heard his calm, amused snort.
"All that fuss is pointless. We'll keep going tonight."
